It's Carnival Time!
|

Are you ready for some Carnival fun? Would you like to win a date night out? Read below to find out how!
Spring is on its way and that means the Normandale Carnival is too! This is THE event of the year for kids and families alike. Come to school on Saturday, May 2nd to play games, eat food, win amazing raffle baskets and celebrate our interns.
The Carnival fundraiser is key to our intern program. This year we hope to raise $25,000! In order for this event to be a success, we need help from each and every family. The raffle baskets are the highlight of the Carnival for many of the kids. To help purchase items for the baskets, we are asking that every family contribute a suggested donation of $10 per student.
In an effort to get donations early, we have set up a special raffle item for those who contribute their $10 per student donation by April 10th. If you click on the link below and make your donation by the 10th, you will automatically be entered into a special raffle to win DINNER AND A MOVIE! You will need it after a fun night at the Carnival! Or, if you have personal connections to fabulous items that could be used in the raffle baskets, please let us know that as well. If you choose to donate items instead of cash, you will be entered into the date night raffle as well! We would love to have some tickets, travel vouchers, gift certificates and more. If kids will love it, we will take it! Please contact Beth Kehoe or Lisa Ungerman if you have a physical item you would like to donate.
Please consider making your contributions early. We have some great ideas for baskets this year. Each grade level will be working toward the purchase of a high-value item for the raffle.
K - Gumball Machine and Candy!
1st Grade - Electric Scooter!
2nd Grade - Grace, The American Girl Doll of the Year!
3rd Grade - iPad Mini!
4th Grade - XBox One!
5th Grade - Taylor Swift Concert Tickets!
Your kids would love to win one of these amazing items. Please help us raise the money needed to buy these and many more prizes.
Thank you in advance for helping the Carnival be a success. We appreciate your generosity!
Beth Kehoe and Lisa Ungerman, Co-Chairs

Next Generation Schools
|
Preparing for the Next Generation of Edina Public Schools requires the engagement of all our stakeholders -- students, families, community and district staff. Normandale families are invited to a presentation and conversation about the how the upcoming Facilities Bond Referendum aligns with our district strategic efforts to advance our Edina Excellence and personalize learning for all students. On March 24 at 7:00 PM in the Normandale auditorium Normandale families will hear from Superintendent Dressen and other district leaders about the components of the facilities plan, details on how referendum dollars would be spent, and, should the referendum pass, the design process and opportunities for input. There will also be time for questions and dialogue. More information about the 2015 Bond Referendum can be found on the Edina Schools website.

Gifted Education Services Meetings
|
Help Shape the Next Generation of Gifted Services in Edina Public Schools
As part of the district's implementation of our Next Generation of Edina Public Schools Strategic Plan, we are exploring how best we can provide personalized instruction and appropriate services for all learners. One such program area the district is studying is Gifted Education Services. All EPS staff, parents, and students are invited to a dialogue about what such services may look like in the future. To start this continuous improvement process, we are hosting meetings to discuss the state of our current program, including strengths and opportunities for growth. At the meetings we will provide general program information and ask for feedback regarding program improvement. You are invited to be a voice in the conversation. The first meeting was held on Monday, March 9th; the second meeting will be held Wednesday, March 18, 6-8pm, in the Normandale Elementary School Community Auditorium.
If you are unable to attend either of the meetings, please look for the presentation and input forms on our district website in the upcoming weeks. For more information, contact Deb Richards, Gifted Services Coordinator, or Randy Smasal, Director of Teaching and Learning.
