Principal's Weekly

Dear Normandale Families,
It is always a delicate and difficult task to balance a budget. Hard decisions have to be made.
To provide some context and clarification I am sharing a message with you that I sent to staff on Thursday.
"As many of you know we have some changes coming to our staff for 2014-15, some due to budget constraints, and others the result of normal staff shifts, resignations or retirements. I've tried to provide some clarity on these issues here..."
My door is always open,
Gerry Lukaska

Field Day - We Need Your Help
|
Will We Have Field Day This Year?
As you are aware, all the events that engage and benefit our children at Normandale require parent volunteers to make them happen (e.g., Book Fairs, the Carnival, and Artsonia). To that end, we ask a lot of our parents to make our children's elementary educational experience the best it can be. And, we appreciate the incredible generosity of you all. For years, we have had a tradition of celebrating the end of the year with an all-school festival called Field Day. The children spend this day playing games with their friends and enjoying the many wonderful relationships they have crafted throughout the year.
Unfortunately this year we have not been able to secure volunteer leadership to run Field Day. And as you know, without these leaders, this event cannot happen. I beg you all to consider whether you can take on Field Day. Last year's chairs will provide detailed direction to get you fully prepared for what is an amazing end of the year experience. This effort will require about 10 hrs a week for the few weeks leading up to the event but the squeals of delight makes it all worthwhile. And, your children will thank you!
Please contact me with whatever time you can offer! Thank you!

Student Tours of Normandale!
|
Would you like a student-led tour of Normandale? Fourteen fourth and fifth graders are being trained as tour guides. We are looking for volunteers who are willing help our guides hone their skills and gain confidence in a practice tour.
Amazing things happen here every day, and a student-led tour is a great way to see the school through a student's eyes. All tours will be during school hours and last 20-40 minutes. If you are interested, please contact Kelsey Wolf.
