Dear Normandale Families,
We are excited to inform you that next Friday, March 7, Roy Lyster an internationally renowned immersion expert from Canada, will present two workshops for the Normandale staff. The morning session will focus on grades K-2 teachers and the afternoon session on grades 3-5 teachers. As a result, our Normandale students will have a special schedule that day. Students will spend half the day with their classroom teachers and then have the opportunity for additional music, art, physical education, media and computer time with our wonderful Normandale specialists!
Here is a link to some of the work that Roy has presented that is very pertinent and why we are thrilled to have this professional development opportunity.

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope Team Coming to Normandale 
The fun continues! The deadline for turning in donation envelopes has been extended through next week, due to an exciting opportunity. An elementary jump rope team is presenting to grades 3-5 on Friday, March 7th, starting at 2pm.
Thanks to all the parents who were able to volunteer their time this week at school or gave their children support for the American Heart Association through encouragement at home.

Skateboarding in PE!
|
Skateboarding in PE for Grades 3-5 In preparation for skateboarding, students will dedicate some time to putting on safety gear in advance of actually using the skateboards. We have all of the safety gear necessary to ride safely. However, if you or child would like to bring in safety gear (helmet, wrist guards, elbow pads, and knee pads) or other items to use with the gear, please do so starting on March 10th. We will continue using the safety gear every day in PE until the unit is done on March 21st. I have put together a FAQ page, for anyone who might be wondering about the skateboard unit. |

- Understand the beliefs students form about themselves from the messages they receive when they make mistake.
- Learn what keeps student stuck in their comfort zone.
- Discover more effective ways students can respond to their mistakes and the mistakes of others.
