Principal's Weekly
|
Normandale Families,
This week was short, sweet and busy. Thank you for your enthusiastic support of the book fair. Next week we're looking forward to going to school five days in a row.
IMPORTANT REMINDERS:
- Monday we're rallying around our interns and wearing red, white, and blue
- CogAT testing completed in 2nd & 4th grades by Tuesday
- Friday we're wearing EDINA spirit wear
Your flexibility when the weather proves challenging is greatly appreciated. Sometimes the parking lot is a mess, the traffic snarled and still the building is full of great kids doing amazing work. My hat goes off to all the teachers and parents who have been so patient embracing all the calendar changes. "Life is good," or, as we say, "la vie est belle!"
My door is always open,

Rally Week: NEXT WEEK
|
February 3rd to 7th is Rally Week!
Rally Week is almost here!
Look for more information and a Rally Week schedule this afternoon in your child's backpack! Don't forget to wear Red, White and Blue on Monday, and complete the trivia contest for prizes to be entered in a prize drawing every day next week! Visit www.edinainterns.org for more information!
If you have hosted and are willing to answer questions from other families on Milk & Cookies night, WE NEED YOU! Please sign up at the below volunteer link to wear a special "Ask me about hosting" button. We need more parent volunteers during Rally Week to help with Milk & Cookies night, someone to video record the intern's performance, and help during lunchtime to pass out Thursday's surprise treats! Sign up if you can help during these fun events.
Please visit www.edinainterns.org for more details, including Trivia Contest and Coloring Contest entry forms.

Jeopardy's Ken Jennings
|
Author Ken Jennings Coming to Normandale
DATE: February 7
TIME: 12:30-1:30PM
LOCATION: ECC Auditorium
AUDIENCE: third - fifth grades
Ken Jennings holds the longest winning streak on Jeopardy and has written three trivia information books to promote student learning, entitled, Maps and Geography, Greek Mythology, and US Presidents (to be released in March 2014). Ken is brought to us by Wild Rumpus Bookstore. He will discuss his books, writings, and the importance of learning and research. If students are interested in pre-ordering his books, an order form will be given to students through their homeroom teachers. Please return the form and money to the Media Center by Monday, February 3rd. The books will be delivered by Wednesday, February 5th so students can start reading them before meeting with Ken Jennings. Ken will be playing several rounds of Jeopardy with students who have read his two books to demonstrate the excitement of learning. Books will also be available on Friday when Ken is at Normandale. This is not at all a request to purchase, but simply an opportunity to bring the books to your family.
Normandale students are in for an exciting afternoon of learning! Questions- email Tracy Pearson, Media Specialist, or phone 952 848-4121.

Host Families for 2014-15
|
We're Looking for Host Families for 2014 -2015 School Year!
Please consider hosting an intern next school year. They are an essential part of our children's immersion education and you can enrich your family's immersion experience by welcoming an intern into your home.
Did You Know? It's a year-long process to get the interns for each school year. Please consider signing up to host for either fall or spring of 2014-15. We need 55 families to invite all 24 interns. Invitations to the interns will go out March 1st so that their paperwork isn't delayed. We need all the families signed up by February 24th deadline. And it's SO EASY to sign-up. If you have questions please contact Anne Jennen or Kris Wetmore.
