REMINDER: Two Hour Late Start On October 30
|
Edina Public Schools has a late start on Wednesday, October 30. All schools will start two hours later than usual; busses will likewise run two hours later than usual that morning. Dismissal times and afternoon bus routes will remain the same.
The district will have one additional late start and two early release days later this year. The additional time for staff will be used to enhance their practice. Teachers will be meeting in their collaborative teams to review student data to plan instruction, thus supporting the district's commitment to personalized learning.

Intern Lending Network
|
Please Help Our Interns Stay Warm This Winter!
The weather is getting colder and we'd like to keep our interns warm this winter. Our school has a lending network that the interns can make requests for items they'd like to borrow.
Please check the link here on the Edina Intern's website to help the interns survive the winter, or you can check out the website at www.edinainterns.org. The menu is on the left hand side. Thanks for your help! The Intern Committee, IOC

Volunteers Needed For Health Screening
|
The two senses that are vital to our child(ren)'s school experience are seeing and hearing. Testing these senses is an easy process and the more volunteers we have the smoother the process. Please consider signing up for the annual health screening on Monday and Tuesday, November 4th & 5th.
Three shifts available - take one shift or more!
If you have any questions, please contact the Health Screen Coordinator:

Innisbrook Fundraiser Update
|
Thank You For All Your Efforts!
Order entry for the Innisbrook Gift Wrap Fundraiser has ended. Thank you so much for your participation! Please turn in your payment and voucher at the front desk at school ASAP if you have not done so already. If you don't have internet access, please make a copy of your order sheet (unless you have only ordered items for yourself) to turn in with your payment and keep the original. We can enter the items for you.
We have raised about $12,500 for our French intern program. That is short of our goal of $15,000 but still a substantial figure! IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO RAISE MORE MONEY! Even though we have ended the sale directly through the school, friends and family may continue to order Innisbrook items online at www.Innisbrook.com. Items online ordered will still generate a 40% profit for Normandale, although after November 8th they will NOT count toward your child's prize credits. Items ordered online will be subject to shipping and handling charges as they will be delivered directly to the customer's home. The online element of the sale is available year round, so if you find yourself needing some items before the holidays, you can order at any time and Normandale will still receive the profit.
If you or a friend or family member would like to make a straight cash donation in lieu of making a purchase, that is fantastic!
Checks may be made out to Normandale PTO and include a brief note stating that the amount is a direct donation and not payment for items purchased from Innisbrook.
Thanks again for your participation and we will see you at distribution time; Nov. 21st, 22nd and 25th!
Please contact Jennifer Scott or Beth Ann Monsen with any questions.

Art Adventure
|
Registration is open for Art Adventure!
Students in grades 3 - 5 are invited to participate in Art Adventure. This free program will be held seven times during the year, starting in November. There will be one program per month, taking place over the lunch hour (actually 45 minutes). Participants will learn about a work of art at each session while enjoying a brown bag lunch brought from home. A related art project will also be offered. Programs are led by parent volunteers.
About Art Adventure
Art Adventure is an art appreciation program for students in grades 3 - 5 based on original paintings, sculpture, textiles, and photographs from the collection at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. This year theme is Sources of Strength.
How do you register your student? To sign up your student please fill in this form. Note that there is one tab per grade (at the bottom of the workbook).
Please note that because of fewer volunteer presenters this year we need to limit Art Adventure to 25 students per grade.

PTO Dues Reminder
|
When should I pay my dues?
The time is now. Did you know that until we get a majority of dues and fees paid we cannot give funds to classroom parents to plan parties? Right now about 50% of parents have paid their dues and fees which cover room parties, field trips, directories, staff development, the intern program and more. This also is your chance to order a yearbook.
Please make every effort to pay in a timely fashion so we can figure out finances for the year. To pay using PayPal click here. Or you can print off a dues form and put a check in the PTO Treasurer box in the front office.
