This week's survey

Last week's survey results...

What difficulties have you had to overcome with Latex ink? Do you think it has been worth the switch?
  • I've had latex for two years and was unaware there was any difficulties. (Reid, Juice Print)
  • Stretch fading is the only real issue with on the job installations that we have had. A quick change in ambient temp also gives problems with curing until the unit adjusts to the change ie leave the printer running overnight and turn the aircon off as you close the office. With two Latex machines operating, it generates a fair bit of ambient heat. Good in winter, not so good in summer. Our solvent printer has different issues. You just learn to work around them I guess. (Shane, Drew's Sign It)
  • Finding stocks that can handle the heat and still laminate without creasing was by far the biggest hurdle. But with a bit of testing and communicating with different reps we found that just like screenprinting on vinyl a PE liner was the trick when printing self adhesive vinyls. We don't print fabric at the moment as we have a Gen1 HP but I will revisit it when we update. The benefits of being able to replace printheads without a technician is amazing. It relieves the pressure when you are training new staff, or trialing new substrates. (Terry-Ann, RT Screen Printing & Graphics)
  • undecided colour matching using flexi/hp media profiles no real media match other than
  • No difficulties whatsoever, very happy with our Latex machines. Definantly worth the switch.

Smile: It's only Monday!

Kids!

My wife hosted a dinner party for all our friends, some of whom we hadn't seen for ages and everyone was encouraged to bring their children along as well.

All throughout dinner my wife's best friend's four-year-old daughter stared at me as I sat opposite her.

The girl could hardly eat her food for staring.

I checked my shirt for spots, felt my face for food, and patted my hair in place, but nothing stopped her from staring at me.

Finally I asked her, "Why are you staring at me?"

Everyone at the table had noticed her behaviour, and the table went quiet, waiting for her response.

The little girl said, "I'm just waiting to see how you drink like a fish."
