This week's survey
(These survey questions are sent in by our readers. Please spend a minute to give your answer to this week's survey as one or possibly more of your industry peers thinks this question is important and wishes to see your point of view as well as others in the industry.)

Last week's survey results...

Should signwriters be liable for the material they use when they sign a car within say 3 - 5 year later?
  • I guarantee all my work, if you don't, you shouldn't be in the sign industry. Unfortunately it's a huge problem in the industry, poor quality work with inappropriate materials by unqualified people with no idea, generally working for customers with no idea. Remember.......they are not a signwriters. Signwriters are tradesmen with a brush, these are just people that can afford a printer or vinyl cutter (signmakers at best, or just stickermen).(Lance, Grafton SignArt)
  • We have always offered a 5 yr warranty. So we only use quality materials. sometimes we lose a job to a cheaper quote. But all our customers are happy with our quality.
  • 3-5 years is a long time to be reliable for a warranty and this could send you broke! we only use quality vinyl and our price of course reflects this to others. We guarantee 1 year for all our work as it also depends on storage of vehicle like full sun or not garaged and how the customer looks after the vehicle! if you use cheap material- it will show within the first year!
  • We guarantee our work for one year only (conditionally) and we do use the best materials.
  • I guess this question was sent in by an amateur. Given the condition we have in Australia and with the amount of acid rain, road grit and the other unknown conditions that the owner applies to the car, etc., it would be difficult to give this type of warranty in spite of using top material.

(As a publishing practice to protect ourselves from any potential liability, company and individual names that are referred to negatively in any of these comments are removed.
In addition we reserve the right to remove comments that are blatant advertising for one product or company)

Smile: It's only Monday!

Angus Broon of Glasgow, Scotland, comes to the little lady of the house exclaiming,
"Maggie, cud ya be sewin on a wee button that's come off of ma fly? I can't button ma pants."
"Oh Angus, I've got ma hands in the dishpan, go next door and see if Mrs. MacDonald could be helpin ya with it."
About 5 minutes later, there's a terrible crash, a bang, a bit of yelling and the sound of a body falling down stairs.
Walking back in the door with a blackened eye and a bloody nose comes Angus.

The little lady looks at him and says, "My god, what happened to ya? Did you ask her like I told you?"
"Aye," says Angus. "I asked her to sew on the wee button, an she did, everything was goin' fine but
when she bent doon to bite off the wee thread, Mr MacDonald walked in."
