This week's survey
(These survey questions are sent in by our readers. Please spend a minute to give your answer to this week's survey as one or possibly more of your industry peers thinks this question is important and wishes to see your point of view as well as others in the industry.)

Our last week's survey results...

Do you think we should run these surveys over a month instead of a week in order to generate a bigger response?
  • No, weekly is good
  • Weekly seems to make things interesting
  • no, I think the questions should be better.
  • No, keep the questions coming. Some will always get a bigger or smaller response. Keep it interesting and I will always read the survey.
  • Yes. Too many emails makes it too tempting to unsubscribe.
  • I think the industry has just lost interest in these surveys which is the reason for very few responses on most surveys.
  • Email is an immediate response thing. If a person does not respond when they see the email the first time, coming back to it in a week or a month is highly unlikely.
  • You have to understand that people are busy which would be the reason for the smallish response but that does not mean that they are not interested in the surveys, in our business we look forward to the Monday newsletters and the surveys and the 2nd hand equipment list but we may not read it straight away - I would vote to keep it weekly.
  • Stay with weekly format. Monthly could become so drawn out to become worthless. Encourage people to submit industry questions. I have appreciated getting a question asked in the past. This is one of the many weekly emails I always look at.
  • Weekly is best even if the responses are not huge, the surveys are appreciated and many are quite valuable in hearing what others think on the various subjects.
  • It would certainly be less hassle for you to run one poll a month!
I doubt it would increase responses much - people will answer when they read the email. Not likely that they'll think about it for a few weeks before replying. Do what works best for you - if one per month helps reduce your workload, then do that and push the forums so people are more aware that they can discuss any issues or questions there. Have a great day!
  • Yes, Monthly
  • No, if people aren't responding in a week then they're not going to in a month.
  • Keep to a week, even if the response is not as big, the surveys are very useful in gauging other people's opinions on the subjects.
  • Stay with weekly even if the responses are not huge, the surveys are very useful.

Editor's note: - Thanks everybody for your feedback. It would seem the majority are recommending weekly, so that is what we will stick with.
Good survey questions need to come from the industry. Please send your suggestion for a good industry survey question to brian@wideformatonline.com - Thanks.
