Personal referral is always a great way if possible however sometimes means not enough time is spent developing a well considered job description. Advertising often absorbs way more time than you want and traditional recruitment agencies may stretch the budget. Depending on position required to be filled and location a market disruptor called Recruitloop (.com.au) is a worthwhile consideration. They have a number of freelance recruiters who charge by the hour and will do as much or as little as you want -from assist with job description, advert placement, interview etc. Cost very reasonable. What ever your choice prior to looking urge you to spend the time to review your existing staff and develop an organizational chart then a clear job description. Just adding another person to the payroll because you are busy is not a great way to go. (Michael, Alexander S Fisher & Co)

Word of mouth has given us the best long-term staff, but otherwise we've used Seek successfully. Some years ago we used recruiters but the cost was extraordinary.

Seems to me only the big corporations have the budget to use recruitment agencies. Advertising in the trade mags is good since it is free but interviewing multiple candidates can be very time consuming. Using Seek brings plenty of applicants from overseas but rarely ones that you can consider seriously. Recommendtions from associates or staff can be good.
(As a publishing practice to protect ourselves from any potential liability, company and individual names that are referred to negatively in any of these comments are removed. In addition we reserve the right to remove comments that are blatant advertising for one product or company)

Smile: It's only Monday!
A clearly inebriated woman, stark naked, jumped into a taxi in New York City and lay down on the back seat. The cab driver, an old Jewish gentleman, opened his eyes wide and stared at the woman. He made no attempt to start the cab. The woman glared back at him and said, "What's wrong with you, honey? Haven't you ever seen a naked woman before?" The old Jewish driver answered, "Let me tell you sumsing, lady , I vasn't staring at you like you tink; det vould not be proper vair I come from." The drunk woman giggled and responded, "Well, if you're not staring at my boobs or ass sweetie, what are you doing then?" He paused a moment, then told her ... "Vell, M'am, I am looking and I am looking, and I am tinking to myself,'Vair in da hell is dis lady keeping de money to pay for dis ride? Now, that's a REAL Businessman !!!!
