Our last week's survey results...

How many times do you get the question "how much is a sign?" How do you respond?

  • I give them a price! I had an application created that allows me to provide pretty much instant basic sign quotes. Have only used it internally, but if anyone out there is interested, copy and paste this link into your browser for a little look at what it is - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwERjfcbDomFVFJDaS1KMlRLWG8/view?usp=sharing
    - call me if you would like to know more... Yolinda - 07 49267811 (Yolinda Foss, Almost Anything Web & Graphic Design)

  • How long is a piece of string? This usually addresses that question, especially if there are no details or specifications of the sign/project at hand.

  • 100,s of times, just been asked 5min ago. Because Im a smarty I say "Did you want one made from toilet paper and written with an old Texta... or did you want the one the size of Ularoo (Ayres Rock) made from solid gold." They are 2 different prices I think, but I will just check with the boss Dohhh
  • If it's a builder for example, I ask how much is a house. Can't price a sign with no specs.
  • Yes, over the years I've been asked that question many times. I always respond with the same answer as calmly as possible..."the price varies from between one dollar and a million dollars. Tell me exactly what you want and I can narrow it down a bit."
  • Really...I suppose you could say "as long as a piece of string" if you wanted to be rude to your customers but until you explain the differing elements that come into play when pricing a sign the customer doesn't know how they are priced. Just because they don't know how your business works doesn't mean they are stupid.
  • First question anyone asks. I just respond "depends" then see where the conversation goes from there :)
  • We get that question every week. We reply, "A sign with no colours, no text, no logos, no measurements, no materials or installation are totally free!" We then ask to meet with them or get them to visit our website to get some details together that we can work with.
  • I typically respond with "how long is a piece of string?", after an awkward laugh we discuss the finer details and specifics to arrive at a price.
  • How many times? almost as many as how much is a skinny flyer?
And the answer is exactly the same - what size is it, what do you want it printed on, what finishing do you require, and how many are there?

  • Every time a client walks in the door...
My usual answer is .."Under $1,000,000.00" As it depends on so many factors.

Smile: It's only Monday!

A sheila walks into an accountant's office and tells him that she needs to do her taxreturn.

The accountant says, "Before we begin, I'll need to ask you a few questions." He gets her name, address, tax file number, etc. and then asks, "What is your occupation?"
"I'm a whore," she says.

The accountant is somewhat taken aback and says, "No, No, No, that won't work. Let's try to rephrase that."
The woman says, "OK, I'm a high-end call girl."
"No, that still won't work. Try again."
They both think for a moment and the woman says, "I'm a chicken farmer."
The accountant asks, "What does chicken farming have to do with being a prostitute?"
"Well, I raised a thousand little peckers last year."

"No worries, he says, chicken farmer it is."
