• No, because the price I quote my customers is the price I have arrived at, from years of experience & having spent the time preparing the quote I have no time for tyre kickers & time wasters. You get what you pay for. If they don't like my pricing they have the option to annoy the other sign people in my area. I have enough work to keep busy & I don't need to haggle for work that does not cover my costs.

• It depends whether you're selling standard or custom created products. If I was buying something off the shelf and there was 2 stores selling identical products I'd probably go for the cheaper one. If I'm buying a custom product (like our customers are in purchasing signage) price is one consideration, but quality, service, advice and turnaround time are also key deciding factors.
  If you've got differentiating values that set you apart from your competitors, you don't have to always compete on price.

• If I have to drive to a customers premises & then chase material costs & supply a quick mock up then I get upset if they are shopping for a price of a few dollars difference or then get a job done that is the opposite to what was quoted in the first place. I can usually get most suppliers prices off the web so it is my time I am wasting if I shop for price.

• I purchase the material that is best suited to the application. Adding to that: quality prep work, workmanship and great after sales service, I charge a premium price. If a client chooses a product driven by price, I reiterate what we offer and wish them all the best if they choose the cheap stuff! Get what you pay for I suppose.

• My purchasing decisions are mainly based on quality rather then price. I've seen too many 'sign shops' use knock off brands which are usually accompanied by terrible installations thus making it a challenge for the rest of us who hold the industry, quality and good reputation over and above the cheap and nasty, quick buck products. My approach is to maintain a healthy relationship between both myself and suppliers as well as my clients. If they look elsewhere sure its disappointing but that's fine, its their money and decision but in most cases I find that good service and quality products will keep people believing that you will do well by them, in turn, they tell their peers. Win/Win!!

• This is a bit of a silly survey since most, if not all of respondents are not going to admit that they buy on price. I guess if we can buy the right product at the right price, then it wold make more sense. Nobody wants to pay more than they have to, whether you are our customer or ourselves or our suppliers.
