Garden Fair Weekend Followup

We had a wonderfully successful Garden Fair Weekend at Klehm Arboretum this year! We couldn't be happier with the outcome and positive feedback from both vendors and visitors.

Attendance was up 33% over last year, with more than 4,000 visitors. And this was in spite of reducing fair hours! More variety of goods for sale, plus more food options, live entertainment and great weather all converged to form an almost perfect Garden Fair Weekend.  This event is Klehm's biggest fundraiser, and revenue generated from it is an important part of our annual budget. We hope to continue the momentum this year has generated and have a bigger, better fair again next year. We are already planning!

Registration for next year's event will open soon; after 2016 vendors have the opportunity to reserve space.  Garden Fair Weekend 2017 will be on June 3-4.
Thanks again and see you at GFW 2017!

Rockford Garden Club Gift

The Rockford Garden Club is celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. As part of the celebration, the club dedicated a $10,000 Andrew Carson kinetic sculpture to the Rockford community at Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden on June 22nd.

The sculpture, titled "The Glassinator," simulates a tree trunk and the branches hold bright glass globes which move horizontally and vertically. It can be seen in the Demonstration Gardens visible from the Clarcor Pavilion.

"The garden club has always been apart of beautification all these years since 1916 so we care about presenting our gift in hoping it will be impetuous for others to participate like we do in beautifying Rockford," says Susan Lynch and Sally Baker, the President and Co-Chair for the Rockford Garden Club.

The Rockford Garden Club is comprised of about 70 women from all around the Rock River Valley. The members are community volunteers, working women, and retirees who all have a passion for gardening.

Volunteer Weeding Day

Saturday, July 9, 2016
9:00am - 12:00pm
BMO Harris Bank employees helping to weed the CPG.

The new Contemporary Perennial Garden (CPG) was established last year.  With community help, we planted 4,000 plants consisting of 40 species of grasses, sedges and perennials covering 14,000 square feet.  It will take three years for this garden to establish itself enough to choke out weeds and need minimal maintenance.  Until then, we need help with weeding so the plants have no competition to thrive.  If you can spare any time to pull weeds, we would greatly appreciate the help.
Bring along your favorite gardening tool, sunscreen and a friend.  The more the merrier!

Register here or call (815) 965-8146.
