Dear Friends of Klehm,
Have you been to Klehm Arboretum & Botanic Garden lately? It has been a busy spring! The garden renovations that began last year around the Clarcor Pavilion are looking great with new plants and features being added. The new "Contemporary Perennial Garden" developed in cooperation with Roy Diblik of Northwind Perennial Farm, has been completed by a team of 60 great volunteers. The volunteer effort recently planted 4,000 plants consisting of 40 species of grasses, sedges and perennials covering 14,000 square feet. This new featured garden located at the back doors of the Visitor Center will provide a changing mosaic of color and texture through the seasons and provide beauty and valuable habitat for native pollinators and butterflies.Klehm depends on the generosity of its contributors to help accomplish new features and maintain the gardens and programs.
Klehm Arboretum isn't done yet. As the city transforms the South Main Street corridor with urban renewal and street improvement projects, Klehm is ideally positioned to welcome visitors and members to enjoy nature's beauty on Klehm's unique grounds. Art on the Lawn and a Luminary Walk, along with new educational programs like the Neighborhood Naturalists co-hosted with Rock Valley College and Young Explorers co-hosted with U of I Extension, will offer more opportunities for the Rockford community to enjoy Klehm and engage in nature.
Your generous gift will be used to support our mission and help Klehm move forward with long term restoration projects, and maintenance. Please help support our mission to maintain a living museum for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of all people. Your gift will make a difference!
Sincerely,
Daniel S. Riggs
Executive Director
P.S. Your contribution goes to direct support of the arboretum, gardens and programs!
