Bonsai Society Exhibit & Class

Exhibit 10am-3pm | Class 1pm

Learn the history and philosophy of this elegant horticultural technique. Bill Horschke, president of the Rock River Bonsai Society, will discuss the science of Bonsai and explain how it includes more than the small trees usually associated with this technique.  In addition to the class, the Bonsai Society will have an exhibit of Bonsai trees displayed in the Visitors Center along with information about the art of Bonsai and their club. The exhibit is included in admission to Klehm grounds.

Cost:  Exhibit - included with admission

Class - free to members, $5 in place of admission

Woodsong - Common Ground

Common Ground is a funky dance band covering hits from the 50's through today. This group has an array of vocal talent to offer an eclectic variety of music. They cover artists like Adele, Santana, Bill Withers, Bob Marley, Joe Cocker, Stevie Wonder and Maroon 5 with a unique funky flair. You'll be shakin' before the night is through. commongroundjam.com

Story Time & Fun With Two Toads Environmental Experience

This summer, kids will be captivated as we read from nature themed stories in the Nancy Olson Children's Garden. Each story will be followed up by a related activity with Jan and Mary from the Two Toads Environmental Experience. The fun can keep going when you pack a picnic lunch for the family.  Klehm has two picnic sites, one in the Children's Garden.

Blackhawk Woodcarvers Exhibit & Presentation

Exhibit 10am-3pm
Kids Soap Carving 11am | Presentation 1pm

Come to Klehm's Gallery for a special exhibit and presentation by the Blackhawk Woodcarvers.  The exhibit will highlight different forms of wood carving with many examples sure to interest all ages. Kids will delight in using wood tools to carve soap with help from members of the Woodcarvers.  At 1pm they will give a presentation talking about the wood carvings on display.  The Blackhawk Woodcarvers is a local organization whose mission is to continue the old craft of woodcarving by encouraging anyone to seek and learn the art of carving.

Cost:  Included with admission, free to members
