Rhododendron & Azalea Dell Program and Tour | |

Saturday, June 1, 2013 1pm-3pm Presented by Dave Hinde
Join Dave Hinde for this fascinating program and tour of the "Rhododendron & Azalea Dell" at Klehm. The Dell is a volunteer-inspired project designed to demonstrate the beauty of many acid-loving plants, and the feasibility of growing them in our northern climate and limestone-underlain soil conditions. You'll learn the basics about growing these acid-loving plants and the history of the Dell. Afterwards, Dave will lead you through this beautiful collection which now boasts over 90 different varieties and cultivars of Rhododendrons, Azaleas, Mountain-laurels, and Pieris, the largest such collection in Illinois in any public garden. Dave has over 30 years experience growing acid loving plants in Winnebago County and is a member and officer of the Midwest Chapter of the American Rhododendron Society. See more details...
