Happy Diwali! The festival of lights is upon us. In the Indian tradition homes are given a good scrub this time every year. The finest in clothes are prepared and the mood is celebratory. Families meet and greet, transmitting good wishes for the coming year.
We must remember as philosophers that the tradition is meant as a vehicle to carry the meaning. The celebration is a celebration of life!
Behind the cleaning of our homes is the reminder to cleanse within and grow stronger from the work. The festival also reminds us of the light within each one of us. We must tend this flame, nurture it and be inspired by it.
We have a lecture in October where we will discover some aspects of the festivals of light. We hope to see you there!

Sincerely,
New Acropolis Mumbai

"The highest courage is to dare to appear to be what one is" - John Lancaster Spalding
Alchemy seems to be an almost universal science. Not only do we find it in Medieval Europe, but also in China and India, amongst other places. This is perhaps because it is not just a primitive forerunner of modern chemistry, but a sacred science in its own right, which was studied wherever esoteric knowledge has appeared.
