Chanduy Shrimp Farm Attains ASC Certification

 

We are very excited to announce that early this month, our partner shrimp producer, Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila S.A. (IPSP) received Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification at its shrimp farms!

 

For almost 40 years, IPSP has known the importance of caring for the environment, the local community and the social conditions of its workers and their immediate surroundings. Their commitment to environmentally and socially conscious practices has placed them as industry leaders, and amongst the first shrimp producers in Ecuador to obtain the ASC label.

 

The ASC label verifies that shrimp production occurs responsably and in a way that benefits producers, and consumers while limiting their impact on the environment. The ASC standard also promotes the social conditions of workers and their surrounding communities. 

 

To complement the farm's ASC certification, IPSP underwent the process for attaining the Marine Stewardship Council's (MSC) Chain of Custody certification at its processing plants. Chain of Custody Certification assures that ASC certified seafood has indeed originated from a farm certified against the ASC standard.

 

Chanduy farm, the production site for Tropical's Blue Foot White Shrimp, is located on the Ecuadorian coastline in the area of San Antonio in the province of Santa Elena. The scale of the farm allows to raise shrimp in a low-density environment while avoiding overcrowding and promoting good health. Chanduy farm is a closely monitored habitat free of antibiotics, additives or growth enhancers. 

 

The proximity to the coast allows the farm to receive an infusion of fresh ocean water with every high tide. This natural habitat is ideal for producing shrimp with a succulent, sweet flavor and crisp texture, exclusive to Blue Foot White Shrimp! 


With constant harvests and around the clock processing, Blue Foot White Shrimp are flown fresh, directly into major US ports in less than 24 hours of harvest - it doesn't get any fresher!

Looking Back at SENA 2015

We'd like to thank you for your support in making the last seafood exposition in Boston, another successful event on the books!

Thank you for stopping by our booth to say, hello as we celebrated our company's 20th year in business. We hope you enjoyed the samples of fresh Tilapia, Shrimp, Cod, Salmon and Cobia prepared by Chef Stanti Schnobachler and assistant Johnny Walter, as much as we did!
