WORKING TOGETHER  ... in Shaping The Future!
For as long as I can remember, the Body of Christ has been divided, in various denominations, in beliefs and different church groups, each holding onto their own vision and purpose, but seldom in working together as "one unit".   When we choose to work separately, you will find that our strength and our ability to affect "change" in our area is greatly weakened and reduced.  We each take off in our own direction, and some make it ... some don't.  And in all of this, we lose the benefit of strength and power in our numbers.  [Lev 26:3-12]

Each church and ministry has a purpose, and I believe serves a specific need in our community.  But when we all come together as a "family", and also work together towards Jesus' purpose in reaching the lost, we become a formidable force against the enemy, and the entire region around us begins to take upon itself a new form!

Lives are changed, and our communities begin to develop strong principles and standards of character.  People are taken off the streets as brother begins to help brother, and sisters become sisters again.  The gospel begins to permeate the school systems, the local city and government, and the people begin to once again hunger for GOD and HIS blessing begins to flow upon us all.

We have a vision, a dream, a goal, to come together, and again work as one "family", like in the days of Acts and the Apostles.  The power and strength of the Holy Spirit will not be seen in any great form unless those who have been entrusted with this message of the gospel of Jesus Christ begin to come together and pray, and help each other, in unity of the faith, sharing their knowledge, their strengths, and the teachings that they have been entrusted with.  And together we will grow!

We were given a command!  It is not a good idea, or a neat thought, but before HE left, Jesus gave us a "command" to "preach the gospel to all the world"!  We are responsible for delivering the life-giving message of the gospel of Jesus, to our communities, to the people we work with, to our schools, and to the World!  We think it's time to get busy about "the Father's business" ...

Word Church banner - the directors WORD CHURCH is a church, a ministry, a fellowship, and even an outreach, where like in the days of the Apostles and Acts, the people joined together!

Our vision and our goal, is to bring churches together in the unity of the faith, to help them to begin to bring together the gifts and talents of each separate church, and to share those gifts and talents with each other, that we may be better and more effective in teaching and training the Body of Christ, for the word of the ministry, to tell the World about Jesus!    .... DEVOTION
Flowing with Change
During the Christmas holiday's this year, we took a cruise.
You heard me right, we took a "cruise"!  We hopped aboard the Carnival Cruise ship called "Magic", and headed out for a 7-day cruise of the Caribbean Islands, with stops in Jamaica, Cozmel and the Cayman Islands!

Now I've never considered a cruise before, but my brother-in-law has been on several of these and loves them!  They've taken family many times, and this past year invited us to go!  So, last January we began saving and making payments towards one of the greatest vacations I've had in a long time.

The first 2 days of the cruise was spent on the open ocean, crossing the deepest parts of the Gulf of Mexico.  Normally, this would be a rather calm journey, but with a storm brewing in Galveston as we left, the seas the 1st day and a half were rough.  We had our ginger tablets, and our Dramamine, and these worked well.

On the 2nd day of the cruise, I saw a young man, about 10 years old, in the buffet area where we were dining.  By this time I had adjusted to seeing folks standing with their feet squared off, and widely separate, to aid in balance.  But this young man had his feet close together.  And as I watched him, he would "roll with it" when a wave would come!

It was much like watching a Pauly Shore move.  The wave would come, and the young boy would, hands outstretched, just "flowwwww" with it!  I thought this was amazing!  He was "adapting" to the waves, while the rest of us were squared off, fighting each and every swell.  We were acting like we were on dry land.  WE WERE NOT on dry land, so why keep fighting it?

I decided to follow the young man's lead, and asking him name I named this new procedure the "Claus maneuver"!  I began to just "flow with it" when the waves would come, and low-and-behold, I found I no longer needed these ginger tablets or the Dramamine!  I now had my "sea legs"!

Often, when GOD is moving in a new and different direction, we lock our stance and stand firm, fighting the move that is not from the enemy but from GOD!  In Ephesians chapter 6, we are told to "stand firm", after we've done everything we need to do to stand in our faith.  But this is different!  When GOD is moving, we need to relax, and make ourselves "flexible",flowwwwwing with the waves of change!

I learned another lesson too!  For years, I've had to be the head of the household, the father, and look out for everyone.  I've had to plan, to organize, and to guide and direct, as a father does.  But our two sons were with us on this trip, and I had some changing to learn!  You see, our oldest son, Joshua, is now 28.  He's a grown man!  And our youngest son, John, is 16 ... hardly a little boy anymore.  And this "Dad" had to learn to back off and let the family just be and do.  We are all adults, and each with our own will and ideas.  Sometimes as a parent, this is hard to recognize.  But, by the time the trip was over, I realized that I have some "new thinking" to do!

This week, I want you to consider some "new thinking"!
Keep your mind open, and ready to think outside of your comfort zone.  And when GOD moves, don't lock down your feet and try to pretend like you're standing against the devil, and holding your ground.  You need to just ... "flow" with it, using the newly discovered, "Claus maneuver".  As the phrase goes, "Let go, and let GOD ..."

Make me proud!
