Ever met an Intercessor?
Last week we talked a bit about Holy Spirit, and also about Intercessors, and I promised to cover this today ...
What is an Intercessor?
An Intercessor is one who prays for you, and does spiritual warfare, on your behalf. The dictionary defines an intercessor as "one who pleads on one's behalf". In other words, they are "fighting for you", in the spirit, with prayer and with weapons of spiritual warfare! I like to say they "stand in the gap" for a person when they are interceeding for them.
Intercessors work very closely with the Holy Spirit of GOD, and in spending that much time in the presence of GOD's Spirit, you are bound to have it rub off ... on YOU!
Intercessors are very sensitive people. They are sensitive to your feelings and hurts, to the needs of those around them, and to the direction of Holy Spirit. In your ministry you need Intercessors! They are the backbone of your foundation, for your ministry. They keep a solid foundation of prayer going, on your behalf, on behalf of the ministry, and for the staff. And, when there's "something up" in the spirit, Holy Spirit will tell them! They are generally "in-the-know".
When I am in a meeting, as a speaker or as a guest, and I meet an Intercessor, they
have my attention! I know that I am standing before a
spiritual warrior in prayer, and someone who is "tuned-in" to the Spirit of GOD. But to know that you are meeting an Intercessor, you need to be filled with the Spirit of GOD yourself! You see, Intercessors are a quiet bunch, except when in prayer. They do not boast or brag. They do not "advertise" to others what they do, they just DO IT. Now, if you meet one, and you've discovered their calling, or maybe out of the kindness of their hearts they've shared that with you, then listen! Listen and learn! They will share with you things they have learned that you cannot get in most churches! Now, always check what you hear to make sure it lines up with the Word of GOD, that's a given. But rest assured, these folks are a
diamond-in-the-rough when you meet one! Take care of them, because chances are, they have been taking care of YOU ... for a long, long time, in prayer and in spiritual warfare over your life and your calling.
Last thought:
Please, please take some time and begin to put your focus on The One Who was sent here to "help" us, to "instruct" us, and to "comfort" us! Get to know, and become "close friends" with Holy Spirit. You've never know a friend like "this" friend!
Make me proud!
