HELLO FROM PRINCIPAL LOWE
|
Dear Parents,
Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) and Colorado Measures of Academic Sucess (CMAS) scores were recently released for the 2015-2016 school year. I am pleased to announce that Flagstaff Academy students scored in the top 3 schools in the district on 7 out of the 12 assessments - quite an achievement for a school who focuses on the Core Knowledge sequence and not the Common Core (which are tested by PARCC and CMAS). The links below will take you to our scores and how our students fared against the district and the state. As a reminder, PARCC is administered for reading and math to all students in grades 3-8 and CMAS is administered for science in grades 5 and 8.
CMAS for social studies is administered in grades 4 and 7; however, last year the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) chose to test students in this area only once every three years. Our students did not test last year nor will they test this year. This means our next year's fourth and seventh graders will take the CMAS test for social studies for the 2017-2018 school year.
The individual student scores arrived on Tuesday, September 20th. For elementary students, if your child tested with us last year, then you will receive a copy of the scores during your individual conferences next week. For middle school students, we will have a table set up in the Commons during our Middle School Conferences Open House, on Thursday, September 29 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. for you to pick up your child's iReady and PARCC/CMAS scores. The teachers will also be available to meet with you at that time.
Please let me know if you have any questions. I hope you enjoy your weekend!
Robin Lowe Executive Principal

If you're needing more than a five minute check-in regarding your child's progress, please email the teacher directly and request a meeting.
Thank you for partnering with us for your child's success!
