Calling All Dragon Volunteers!

Students love seeing their parents involved and invested in their school community! The good news is that we have many volunteer opportunities for you to be involved. We will be working on getting a volunteer database set up this year, but in the meantime, we will be using Signup Genius as a way for our volunteers to sign up for different volunteer needs.

Some immediate volunteer opportunities:
  • Library Media Center: Our LMC staff needs help with the checkout counter while the media assistant is teaching the class. If you are computer-savvy and enjoy interacting with students, this is a great volunteer opportunity for you!
  • Health Clerk Office: Ms. Moen, our health clerk, would like to have one or two parents to cover her lunch break from 12:30 p.m.-1p.m. daily. Ideally, she would like the same parent(s) to commit to the same day every week for the 2016-17 school year.
  • Front Office: Several volunteers are needed every month to help with general office help. Volunteer needs include cutting, copying, sorting, inventory, etc.
  • Playground Project: Looking for a parent or volunteer who has good woodworking experience for a playground project. We are looking to refinish/repair our benches with some special touches. Contact Kevin Pugh, Dean of School Culture, at kpugh@flagstaffacademy.org for more information.
If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up at this link:

We love and appreciate parent and family volunteers because we want to share the joy of teaching and learning with our community. Every hour you spend adds value to your student's experience, and the greater school community. We depend upon your support and leadership to realize our vision. This past year our school benefited from over 10,000 volunteer hours!

Volunteers of the Month
Every month, we recognize our volunteers by holding a drawing for our "Volunteers of the Month." Thank you for everything you do every day, to make Flagstaff a wonderful place to learn!

Contact Jeannie Torres, Volunteer Coordinator, at jtorres@flagstaffacademy.org with any questions.

2nd, 3rd and 4th Grade -
It's Recorder Time!

To help us sound our very best, this year's
second, third and fourth graders will all be using the same Yamaha model YRS-24B. If your child has a recorder from last year, please consider the option of buying another so that one recorder may be left at home and one kept at school; It's one less thing to remember on music day!

Also, to help minimize the impact of the cold and flu season, each student will use their own recorder. We will be implementing a strict no sharing policy

Please look in your Friday Folders this week for the Recorder Order Form. You can also download and print the form and return it with $8.00 cash/check (payable to Flagstaff Academy) before Friday, September 9th. Your student's homeroom teacher will collect the money and recorders will be delivered shortly after.
Important Lunch Room Information
  • Free/Reduced Lunch: The deadline for free/reduced lunch applications is Tuesday, September 27. If an application is not turned in by that date, students will be charged for a full lunch starting on Wednesday, September 28. Access the Free/Reduced Lunch application here.
  • Cold Lunch Students: Cold lunch students must provide their own spoon or fork. The kitchen only provides utensils for students who purchase a hot lunch.
  • Student Hot Lunch Prices: 2016-2017 meal prices have stayed the same.
    • Elementary: $2.75
    • Middle School: $3.00
  • Adult Lunch Prices: Adult lunches have increased to $3.75. There is absolutely no meal charging for adult lunches.
  • Forget a lunch? No money in hot lunch account? If your student doesn't have money in their hot lunch account, they will not be able to charge meals. Grades 4-8 will have the tray returned, and will be given milk, fruit, and access to the salad bar only. Grades 3 and under will not have tray pulled, but will be given the same if it is caught before getting a meal. Payments for hot lunch accounts are made through MySchoolBucks
  • We follow the same menu as the St. Vrain Valley School District - Download here!
