PrincipalLowe HELLO FROM PRINCIPAL LOWE

Dear Parents,

We have had a lot of excitement around school this week. First, Mrs. MacKay, one of our awesome 3rd grade teachers, had a beautiful baby boy, Turner, who joins his big sister. Second, Mr. Farmer, one of our amazing intervention teachers, had a beautiful second daughter, Talia. Baby, momma, sibling, and daddy are doing just great!

We've also had other births on campus this week.  Our baby chicks, which have been incubating in Ms. Wolff's science lab, have hatched! Thanks to Richard Raehal, our tech specialist on campus, we have been able to watch the hatching over a live web cam. The campus is truly abuzz with the excitement!

Beautiful weather, new births - it is definitely springtime!

Just a reminder that the next principal's coffee is Thursday, May 19th, at 8:30 a.m. and again at 2:30 p.m.  I will be going over the new initiatives and plans for the 16-17 school year that I presented at the last PTO meeting. Expect an email outlining the details of those initiatives to arrive in your inbox early next week and I look forward to talking about them with you in person!

Enjoy the weekend!

Spring Band and Choir Concert
Date: Tuesday, May 17
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Flagstaff gym

As you know, our beloved Mr. Baldwin is retiring at the end of the school year. We will miss him dearly, but know he and his wife Debbie are going to love the next journey in their life that is taking them to Lawrence, Kansas to be closer to family. We'll enjoy our middle school choir led by Mr. John Mieras, as well as our bands under the guidance of Mr. Baldwin, including "Flagstaff Dragon Fire," the new Dragon spirit song of his own composition!

To honor this special event, we are pleased to have High Plains Video, who will be creating a commemorative DVD for sale for $20, a portion of which will go back to benefit our music program at Flagstaff. If you're interested in ordering, you can do so online, as well as by mailing in your order with this form

We look forward to your joining us!

Final Harvest Day - Volunteers Needed!

We are celebrating the final Harvest Day of the school year in a special way. Instead of serving students during lunch, we'll be sending bags of fresh produce home with students at the end of the day on Friday, May 20

But we need your help to help make this happen!

On Thursday 5/19 at 4:00 p.m., we need 8-10 volunteers to meet up at Ollin Farms to help fill bags. These bags will contain spinach, radishes and Egyptian walking onions. We will be tying the bags with a recipe card and Boulder County Farmers Market information.

On Friday 5/20 at 3:00 p.m., we need 8-10 volunteers to hand out bags of produce to children (one bag per family) during driveline.

To sign up for shifts, please fill out the spreadsheet to sign up for shifts. Note that "Tab 1" is for Thursday's preparation at Ollin and "Tab 2" is for Friday's handout activity.
If you have any challenges with updating the Google sheet, send Jodie Popma a note at  a note.

Thank you for supporting Harvest Days and Project Produce this year!
