Hello Everyone!

This week I would like to recognize our incredible Flagstaff PTO. If you are not fully aware, they take such good care of us here at school! From the various treats for appreciation, to the fabulous meals and kind words of encouragement, to the Jog-a-thon, Festival of Cultures, Harvest Days, and upcoming Gala on April 16, their ongoing commitment to our school makes a huge difference every single day. Our PTO supports technology initiatives, as well as student-driven ones such as the water-bottle filling stations, and so much more! We could not keep putting one foot in front of the other without this amazing group supporting us! To learn more about the PTO, come to their upcoming general meeting next Wednesday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m., which is taking place after our special Living History with Rosa Parks performance.

And it goes without  mention - a huge thank you to all of our parents for your support of this organization and of our teachers - you are so appreciated by everyone here on campus!

Have an amazing, heart-filled four day weekend!

K to Career Discovery Expo - Rescheduled for Tuesday, March 29

K to Career Discovery Expo
Date: Tuesday, March 29
Time: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Location: Gym

The Flagstaff Academy K to Career Discovery Expo is an opportunity for our students to see live, interactive demonstrations of how different careers and industries use science and technology, every day.

We've rescheduled our K to Career Discovery Expo so that we can have an even more amazing group of Science or Technology business leaders for our students!

Do you work in a Science or Technology Industry? We are looking for exhibits where students can get hands-on interaction and connect their science and technology knowledge from Flagstaff Academy to the real world. Industries may include robotics and automation, space exploration, health care, computer science, forestry and environmental sciences, energy, entertainment and the arts, and education -- just to name a few!

If your company would like to participate, please contact Wayne Granger, Executive Director, at wgranger@flagstaffacademy.org, for more information.

We are very excited to announce that the PM Kindergarten Class, starting in the 2016-2017 School Year, is a go! The new offering will reduce overall class sizes throughout our Kindergarten program, as well as fulfill the increased demand for a PM Kindergarten class.

If you have any questions, please contact Sheila Strukel, Registrar at enroll@flagstaffacademy.org or 720-864-9090.

Storyteller Becky Stone as Rosa Parks
Living History Comes to Life at Flagstaff:
Civil Rights Hero Rosa Parks

Rosa Parks, the civil rights icon who refused to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama bus, will be portrayed in a free Chautauqua performance at Flagstaff Academy.

Date: Wednesday, February 17
Time: 6:00 p.m.
Location: Gymnasium
Chautauqua scholar Becky Stone will portray Parks, in a living theater experience of how one woman, through determination and will, helped start the Civil Rights Movement in 1955.
Stone holds a B.A. in drama from Vassar College and an M.A. from Villanova University in elementary educational counseling. She has been a school counselor and drama teacher, and as a storyteller, she has taught in workshops and in residency.

This "living history" presentation is part of the Colorado Humanities' Black History Live Tour. In a Chautauqua performance, a scholar gives a dramatic monologue in costume and character.

Following up on last year's successful "Living History with Frederick Douglass," FRCC's Boulder County Campus is partnering again with Flagstaff Academy to present this engaging learning experience.

Co-sponsored and presented by Front Range Community College, the Colorado Humanities, and the High Plains Chautauqua Association.

The Health Room is in immediate need of boys and girls pants in size 6-8, as well as boys and girls underwear in those same sizes.

Items can be dropped off at the front desk.

Thanks in advance for your help!
