  • Thanksgiving Break

Hi Parents,

As we're nearing the Thanksgiving break, we have been working hard on assessing, analyzing, and making recommendations for curriculum updates and changes. Next week you will have two opportunities to provide input to some of these recommendations.

The first will be at the PTO General Meeting, which takes place on Wednesday, November 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the LMC. I'm excited to be the guest speaker and I'll be focusing on talking about curriculum.

I'll also be hosting "Coffee with the Principal," which will happen on Thursday, November 19, both at 8:30 a.m. and at 2:30 p.m. in the Commons.

I look forward to seeing you at our PTO meeting next Wednesday and at one of the coffees. Your input is so important to our school.

Take care,

Robin Lowe,
Executive Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As safety is my top priority at Flagstaff Academy, I want to inform you know about the second of two upcoming safety exercises being held at businesses in the area near our school in the next week. These exercises will involve actual first responders including police officers, ambulances, and fire trucks with their lights and sirens. Please note that these are only exercises and there should be signs out at the businesses to serve as reminders to the community.

These full-scale training exercises are common and very valuable for first responders to improve their service to the community. However, we know it can be shocking to drive by and potentially see firefighters in full gear, Hazardous Materials trucks, Bomb Squads, and even SWAT Teams in the parking lot near your child's school. I'm sending this notification so that you can be prepared to see these exercises and not be alarmed that your child is in danger. In the event of an actual emergency at a neighboring business, I would be in communication with public safety officials and we would communicate any impact to our school and any action needed. This notice is to avoid alarm due to these exercises. Below is the date, location, and expected time span of the exercises, as well as the impact on traffic flow.

Date: TUESDAY, NOV. 17TH- 9:30-11:30 AM
Site: Front Range Community College- 2121 Miller Dr.-
Training Exercise Location: Classroom building to our south and Administration Building on Corner of Pike and Miller Dr.
Impact: Low. Traffic will not be affected as the exercise will be contained on the property, however, emergency vehicles and personnel may be visible from streets.

I am in regular contact with the business owners and Longmont Public Safety officials throughout the exercises should anything change.

If you have any questions, please contact me directly.

Thank you,

Wayne Granger
Executive Director

Thank you for the great team effort!

Due to the cooperation of our Flagstaff families and the efforts of the Driveline Team, Afternoon Driveline is running smoothly and ending before 4:00 p.m. on a regular basis.

End of Driveline Pickup Awareness

As Driveline is completed, our staff is ready to finish up their work and head home. If you are planning on picking up children at the end of Driveline, please be courteous to our staff by arriving by 3:50 p.m. for the final wave. Recently, there has been an excess of cars arriving after Driveline has ended which holds up staff and causes issues at the front office.

Thank you for your help and cooperation!

Report Cards
Dear Parents and Guardians,

We've been experiencing some technical difficulties with inputting grades in Infinite Campus. Therefore, we will have a slight delay in getting you report cards. We are working with the school district to get this resolved as quickly as possible. We appreciate your patience as we work through this. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

PTO November Meetings

Wednesday, November 18, 6:30 p.m. in the LMC - We'll be joined by our very special guest, Principal Lowe, who will be talking about our curriculum.

The PTO meetings are open to the general members of Flagstaff Academy and the public. Parents, guardians, and grandparents
are encouraged to attend these meetings.
Thank you!
Thank you to the PTO Hospitality Committee (Co-chairs, Karen Simmonds, Elizabeth O'Hara, and volunteers Van Otto and Angela Nechvatal) for the yummy Salted Caramel and Apple treats! What a sweet way to end our week!

And a special thank you to ACE Hardware and Ollin Farms for their donations!

Remember, all Wednesday afternoon practices have been CANCELLED.

With so many afterschool opportunities to students, we've determined that Wednesday afternoons are a time that our teachers have the opportunity to learn and develop their own skills. In order to allow all our teachers this opportunity there will be no 100-mile club practice on Wednesday mornings or afternoons. The revised schedule is below:

Afternoon Practices - M, T, and Th 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Morning Practices - M, T, Th, and F 7:15-7:45 a.m.

Students are welcome to attend as little or as many practices as they can.
It has been so great seeing your students come out to all the 100-mile club events. We started the year off with a bang! We have over 50 students that have earned their t-shirt and 5 that have hit the 50 mile mark!

Registration is still open! Online Registration is available here!

*Just a reminder that even though it is chilly outside we will still be running outside! Please dress your child accordingly: gloves, hats, and jackets are important to have.

Please be sure to pick up your runners by NO LATER than 4:30 p.m.
at afternoon practices.
