Hi Parents,

Believe it or not, we are gearing up for the 2016-2017 Enrollment season here on campus! I'll be personally leading our Weekly Tuesday Tours (joined by members of our wonderful staff), which will start on Tuesday, November 3, and will run the first Tuesday until May 2016.

Our open houses are set for Thursday, November 5th and Tuesday, November 10th at 6:00 p.m  We'd love for you to come join us if you are available. It is so important for prospective parents to hear from you - as parents who have chosen Flagstaff Academy for their children. Hearing firsthand why you entrust the education of your children to our care means so much more than we can ever convey to parents.

If you're available and are willing to share your story, please contact Lisa Trank-Greene, Communications Coordinator, at ltrankgreene@flagstaffacademy.org.

Thank you for considering assisting us with our enrollment endeavors. We truly appreciate you!

Robin Lowe,
Executive Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We have commissioned an educational consulting firm, BrandED, to assist us in determining how we can better our communications, our enrollment processes, and our marketing efforts. Rex Whisman, our consultant, has over 25 years experience in educational communications and marketing work including universities, school districts, non-profit organizations, and private schools.

Over the last few weeks, Rex has been conducting interview sessions with multiple levels of stakeholders including staff, students, parents, the Board of Directors, and the PTO. We know that not everyone has been able to attend these sessions, so we are extending our reach to you through an online survey. Please take less than five minutes to complete this short survey that can help us continue to improve our communications, focus our efforts, and make Flagstaff Academy the best school in our region.

Please note, the survey will close on Monday, October 26th.

Thank you,

Wayne Granger,
Executive Director
Flagstaff Academy

Every school year, we conduct vision and hearing screenings for all K-5 grade, 7th grade, and any new-to-the-district students. The screenings are state-mandated; if you do not want your child screened, please email Kathy Peterson, Health Clerk, at kpeterson@flagstaffacademy.org no later than Friday, November 6.

Vision and Hearing Screening Schedule
Monday, November 9
Tuesday, November 10

Would you like to help?
We need Vision and Hearing Screening volunteers!

Volunteer responsibilities include crowd control and escorting students to and from their classes. It is preferred that all volunteers are able to stay for the entire day. Lunch will be provided.

Please contact Kathy Peterson, Health Clerk, kpeterson@flagstaffacademy.org for which days you're able to help!

We've amassed quite the collection of sweatshirts, sweaters, lunch boxes and more in our Lost and Found closet. Our Lost and Found policy is to donate all unclaimed items at the end of each month.

We'll be donating to the OUR Center on Friday, October 30, so if you're missing something from your child's closet, please come to the front desk, sign in and claim your items. Even if you don't think you're missing something, we encourage you to take a look!

Also, it helps greatly if you label your child's items with fabric pen markers.

Thanks for your help and cooperation!

Flagstaff Academy follows the St. Vrain Valley School District's policy for school closings for inclement weather, with the rare exception of when we choose to close our campus and SVVSD remains open. If that were to happen, we communicate to our Flagstaff community through the following ways:
        • Infinite Campus
        • Facebook and Twitter
        • Flagstaff App Notification
        • Flagstaff Email Blasts
        • Local News Radio and TV Stations

Please watch local media for SVVSD Closings, as you will not see Flagstaff Academy listed for District-wide closings.

Charting the Galápagos Islands:
Spring Break 2017

The Galápagos Islands are most famous for the profound discoveries of Charles Darwin. Carry on that scientific tradition as you learn about the unique species of birds and other animals that call the islands home...many of which can't be found anywhere else in the world. On mainland Ecuador, experience the local culture in Quito. Independence Plaza and the Intinian Museum provide social context to the biological wonders of this fascinating country.

There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at 4:10 p.m.in Mrs. Ledbetter's room D26 (middle-school hallway). Locking in your reservation now ensures the lowest possible price - the early bird registration discount of $200 expires on November 6!

Mr. Pugh made our Dragon Dash Jog-a-thon a Marathon! He inspired everyone with his 265 laps, totally 26.3 miles!

In appreciation of Mr. Pugh running all day long with every single grade, students filled the mason jars to sponsor his Jog-a-thon laps. Along with donations from several of our School Board parents and one of our Jog-a-thon sponsor, Jennings Home Renovations, Flagstaff rallied and raised $1,188.88 for Mr. Pugh's achievement!

Thank you Mr. Pugh, for going the extra mile for Flagstaff, and thanks to all for the great support!
The PTO executive board would like to thank all parent volunteers for helping to build and strengthen the Flagstaff Academy community through your participation in the PTO. Participating makes a difference to the parents, teachers, staff, and children at our school!

Effective immediately, all Wednesday afternoon practices are CANCELLED.
With so many afterschool opportunities to students, we've determined that Wednesday afternoons are a time that our teachers have the opportunity to learn and develop their own skills. In order to allow all our teachers this opportunity there will be no 100-mile club practice on Wednesday mornings or afternoons. The revised schedule is below:

Afternoon Practices - M, T, and Th 4:00-4:30 p.m.
Morning Practices - M, T, Th, and F 7:15-7:45 a.m.

Students are welcome to attend as little or as many practices as they can.
