Upcoming Board Meeting

The Board of Directors will be holding an additional meeting on Monday, October 19th at 5:30PM at the school in the LMC. The meeting is open to the public.

The Board will be participating in an ideation session with Rex Whisman from BrandED to help support the school's marketing and branding project. The meeting will also likely include an update on the status of the school's strategic plan and a discussion about the school's mission statement. If time permits, Mr. Granger and Ms. Lowe plan to provide an overview of recent organizational culture initiatives and conduct a brief team-building exercise.

There are no votes on the agenda for the meeting on October 19th. For your information, the following votes were taken at our last meeting on October 6th, 2015:
    • Finance: Approve Draft Audit (Approved)
    • Finance: Approve Actuals: August 2015 (Approved)
Support the Dragon Dash!

I'd like to encourage everyone to participate in the upcoming "Dragon Dash" jog-a-thon! The jog-a-thon is one of my favorite events at the school. I've attended every jog-a-thon since my daughter started kindergarten, and I'm always overwhelmed by the incredible positive energy as all our students from Pre-K through 8th grade burst out of the starting line and run lap after lap, with our teachers and staff and volunteers and parents cheering them on and challenging them to do their best.

For the past several years Mr. Kevin Pugh, our Dean of School Culture, has run with every class and every grade level, all day long. Last year he ran a total of 215 laps, or more than 20 miles during the course of the event! It's an incredibly impressive effort that shows a tremendous dedication to our school and really helps motivate all the kids. This year our PTO has challenged the entire Flagstaff community to support the jog-a-thon by donating any loose change you might have around the house, or by pledging money for each lap Mr. Pugh runs with our students. I encourage all of us rise to this challenge!

The money that is raised by our PTO during this event goes to help fund vital technology initiatives, art and music equipment, special events for our students, and so much more. Please consider supporting our PTO by sponsoring Mr. Pugh and your own little Dragons!

Lend Your Voice to Our Marketing Campaign

Flagstaff Academy has hired BrandED, a Denver-based education-focused company to continue to improve our admissions and enrollment process, as well as help develop a long term marketing and brand strategy. Current Flagstaff Academy parents are invited to attend a meeting facilitated by the BrandED Consultants Group where you will learn more about the project and be given the opportunity to participate in the process. Meetings will be held on Monday, October 19 at 2:00-3:00 p.m. and again at 6:30-7:30 p.m. RSVP for one of the meetings here. If you're unable to make either one of these meetings, be sure to look for an online survey in your email.

Go Dragons!
