HELLO FROM EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL LOWE

Hi Parents,

I am loving these cool mornings and evenings and am so glad that fall has finally arrived. I was thinking maybe I brought the warm weather with me from Texas! I am so impressed with the gorgeous changing colors of the leaves on the trees and the snow caps on the mountain tops - for the first time in my life I think I am experiencing the true nature of fall in all its splendor. In Texas the leaves are green, then they are brown and dead. None of this incredible color. If you have become immune to this, try to see it from the perspective of someone new to the area. Absolutely amazing!

This Monday, we have our fifth graders leaving for YMCA in the Rockies for their Outdoor Education adventure. That same day, the rest of our students will have the day off while we have professional development with our staff. Our elementary teachers will be planning in their teams for Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA), and our middle school teachers will be receiving Professional Development (PD) in adolescent brain development and effective teaming.

Enjoy your three-day weekend, and parents of our fifth grade students - no worries - our teachers are fantastic and they will take great care of your children while they are away!

Take care,

Robin Lowe
Executive Principal

Flagstaff Academy has hired BrandEd, a Denver-based education-focused company to work to continue to improve our admissions and enrollment process, as well as help develop a long term marketing and brand strategy.

You are invited to participate in a meeting for Current Flagstaff Parents, which will be facilitated by BrandEd. Your input is valuable and will help to shape our future.

(immediately following the Board of Directors Meeting)

If you're unable to make either one of these dates, don't worry! We'll be sending out an online survey early next week, so look for that in your email!

As always, we appreciate your support as we continue to grow and improve our wonderful school.

2015-2016 STUDENT ACTIVITY FEES REMINDER

Your Child's Activity Fee Makes All the Difference in
Their Classrooms!

Student Activity Fees help purchase these items for your child:
    • Student workbooks
    • Consumable classroom supplies
    • Software licensing for technology programs
    • Elementary specials program materials
    • Middle School electives consumables
    • Community school supplies
    • Buses and tickets for field trips
Flagstaff Academy depends on these fees as a part of our operational budget. When fees aren't received it impacts how much we can spend in classrooms.

Student Activity fees were increased by $10 for the 2015-2016 school year. This is the first and only increase in over ten years. The $10 increase allows Flagstaff to purchase the community supplies previously included on school supply lists such as tissues, disinfectant wipes, copy paper and paper towels.

Elementary Student Activity Fee
$240
Middle School Student Activity Fee
$285

Payment is due October 1, 2015
Student Activity Fees Payments are Non-Refundable

Pay Fees Online through RevTrak

You may also pay by cash or check at the school.
Checks should be made out to Flagstaff Academy.

Free and Reduced Lunch eligible families are eligible for adjusted student activity fees. To apply, go to:

Please submit a copy of acceptance letter to Flagstaff Academy Business Office.

Elementary Families!
Your Shout-Outs & "Decorate your Droid" Cutouts are due Tues., 10/13

Sponsor Mr. Pugh!

Last Dragon Dash, Mr. Pugh, our wonderful Dean of School Culture, ran all day to inspire our kids! He clocked an amazing 215 laps, equaling 20.43 miles! To show him our appreciation, we're giving everyone the chance to sponsor Mr. Pugh! Together we can make an outpouring of admiration with cash and even spare change. He's hitting the track again next Friday to "Run for Flagstaff's Future" - our students!

Clean out the car console, laundry jar and that junk drawer in the kitchen that everyone has! Send in baggies of cash and coins, and let's see how much we can raise for his laps.

We'll have change jars in every homeroom Tues.-Friday next week. Donations will go into general fundraising rather than individual prize calculations.

Thank you to our Dragon Dash Legacy Sponsors for making our event possible: AAA Health Centered Dentistry, Mountain View Orthodontics, Niwot Youth Sports, Laurell Richey of ReMax and
Santiago's Mexican Restaurant.
