HELLO FROM EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL LOWE
|
Hi Parents,
Next week we have a late start for all students on Wednesday, October 7. I wanted to share with you the rationale behind the late starts. By having our students arrive a couple of hours later than normal, we are able to provide Professional Development (PD) for our teachers within the course of the school day. This year, through a teacher survey, we have identified four strands, or areas of focus:
- Differentiation/Instructional Strategies
- Technology Integration
- Classroom Management
- Restorative Practices
Our teachers will self-select their strand and receive instruction, as well as ongoing support throughout the school year. We wanted you to be aware of how we use this extra time each month with our staff!
Thanks to all the parents who came out for our first parent coffee this month. It was a great time to ask questions and hear what our plans are for the school year. Next month we're moving our parent coffee to Tuesday, October 13th. I will be in Columbus, Ohio, presenting a seminar on adolescent development at the national conference for the Association for Middle Level Education. Several of our middle school staff members will be attending with me. We are looking forward to this opportunity to hear what is happening at the national level and bring back what we learn to our school! I do hope to see you at the October 13th coffee - either at 8:45 a.m or 2:30 p.m.
Warmly,
Robin Lowe
Executive Principal |

2015-2016 STUDENT ACTIVITY FEES REMINDER
|
Your Child's Activity Fee Makes All the Difference in
Their Classrooms!
Student Activity Fees help purchase these items for your child:
- Student workbooks
- Consumable classroom supplies
- Software licensing for technology programs
- Elementary specials program materials
- Middle School electives consumables
- Community school supplies
- Buses and tickets for field trips
Flagstaff Academy depends on these fees as a part of our operational budget. When fees aren't received it impacts how much we can spend in classrooms.
Student Activity fees were increased by $10 for the 2015-2016 school year. This is the first and only increase in over ten years. The $10 increase allows Flagstaff to purchase the community supplies previously included on school supply lists such as tissues, disinfectant wipes, copy paper and paper towels.
Elementary Student Activity Fee
|

|
Middle School Student Activity Fee
|
