HELLO FROM EXECUTIVE PRINCIPAL LOWE

What a Great First Six Weeks!

As we end our sixth week of school (can you believe it?), I am excited to say that my husband and I are all moved in to our home in Firestone! Our daughter, Stephanie, flew in last week and helped us unpack boxes and hang pictures. I have no idea what we would have done without her help! Stephanie came alone without our grandkids, who stayed behind with their dad and our son-in-law, Alan. This was probably a good thing because I wouldn't have gotten much work done with them around! It does feel good to be settled in here in Colorado - now I can start worrying about those winter months!

Before signing off, I would like to take a moment to thank a few groups:
  • Our elementary teachers - with a brand new curriculum to implement with Core Knowledge Language Arts (CKLA) and having goal setting conferences a full month earlier than usual, I know you have had a lot on your plate, but you guys are amazing! Thank you for the long nights and weekends preparing for your students and your conferences. And special thanks to Terri Long for providing you with the support and guidance needed to ensure our students' needs are met. You all are so appreciated!!
  • Our middle school teachers - Pingree Park - enough said! What an incredible undertaking that is - the planning, the organizing, the preparation - I take my hat off to each of you for giving our students this awesome opportunity to bring learning to life! And special thanks to Katie Gustafson and Kevin Pugh for their leadership in pulling off taking over 300 folks to the mountains for three days. Wow - what a feat!
  • Our PTO - for organizing our Fall Festival and bringing some good old fashioned fun for our families to enjoy, as well as the k-cup delivery, and feeding our elementary school staff during conferences. Thank you for all that you do!
Next week, I'll review discussions from the Principal Coffees. Thank you to those who attended!

Have an great three day weekend!

Warmly,

Robin Lowe
Executive Principal

2015-2016 STUDENT ACTIVITY FEES DUE OCTOBER 1

Your Child's Activity Fee Makes All the Difference in
Their Classrooms!

Student Activity Fees help purchase these items for your child:
    • Student workbooks
    • Consumable classroom supplies
    • Software licensing for technology programs
    • Elementary specials program materials
    • Middle School electives consumables
    • Community school supplies
    • Buses and tickets for field trips
Flagstaff Academy depends on these fees as a part of our operational budget. When fees aren't received it impacts how much we can spend in classrooms.

Student Activity fees were increased by $10 for the 2015-2016 school year. This is the first and only increase in over ten years. The $10 increase allows Flagstaff to purchase the community supplies previously included on school supply lists such as tissues, disinfectant wipes, copy paper and paper towels.

Elementary Student Activity Fee

Middle School Student Activity Fee
$285

Payment is due October 1, 2015
Student Activity Fees Payments are Non-Refundable

IT'S BOXTOPS TIME!

Box Tops
Congratulations to Greta in Ms. Cynkar's 5th Grade Class! She won a $25 Itunes Gift Card for being the closest at guessing the number of EXPIRED BoxTops at the Fall Festival to win! Her guess was 1,578 and the actual EXPIRED BoxTops were 1,584. That is $158.40 that the school was unable to collect! Please turn your BoxTops in right away so we can collect ALL the money!

Classes in that have already started clipping and are on their way collecting 750 BoxTops to Chew Gum at School are:

Lewis 420, Mehus 255, Cynkar 228

Please note that eBoxTops will not count towards these totals! Although, we appreciate all eBoxTop submittals, there is no way to track all of them to a specific classroom. eBoxTops will be included in the school totals, so please submit them. Only actual BoxTops that are turned into the teacher will count towards these classroom awards.

Important Reminders:
*Please remember to put the student's name, grade and TEACHER in with all BoxTops in a sealable bag/envelope. BoxTops with no teacher name will be included in the general BoxTop fund.
*Please continue to trim the BoxTops prior to submitting them.
*Please only include NON EXPIRED BoxTops. BoxTops do expire!!!
