Immunization Records Reminder

Remember that Tuesday, September 15th is the deadline to provide your child's updated immunization records or an exemption letter.

For new students, we will need a complete list of all immunizations.

Inhaler Use Policy
  • All inhalers must have the pharmacy label attached to the actual inhaler.
  • If your student has the necessary orders and permissions to carry inhalers, then the inhalers are required to be with your child at all times and not in their backpacks. In the event of an asthma attack, it is critical that the inhalers are with them. We also need to insure that the inhalers are not accessible to other students.
  • Please download and return the "Permission to Carry Inhaler Form" found on the form section of the Health Clerk webpage
If you have any questions, please contact Kathy Peterson, Health Clerk, at 303-651-7900, ext. 211, or kpeterson@flagstaffacademy.org.

Project Produce is Coming To Flagstaff!

Flagstaff Academy is proud to be a recipient of a 2015-2016 Project Produce: Fresh Fruit and Veggie Grant from the Chef Ann Foundation!

The grants help schools increase kids' access to fresh fruits and veggies, as well as nutrition education. As part of this wonderful opportunity, Flagstaff is working with the SVVSD and local farmers on four Harvest Days:

September 17: Tomatoes
November 12: Hakurei Turnips
January 21: Winter Squash
March 10: Spring Carrots
(produce and dates subject to change)

Students will sample the fresh produce, as well as a delicious and simple prepared taste featuring the monthly vegetable. Stay tuned for more details!

It's BoxTops Time!

Box Tops
Last year Flagstaff Academy was ranked #3 in Longmont for the most BoxTops collected. Let's get clipping and make it to #1.

This year all classrooms have the opportunity to win BoxTop awards for submitting the following amount of BoxTops:

750 BoxTops = Chew Gum at School
1,500 BoxTops = Popcorn Party
3,000 BoxTops = Kick Ball Party

Please remember that the classroom that brings in the most BoxTops for the year will win a Pizza Party!

Thanks to the following classrooms that have already started clipping and are on their way to chew gum at School:

Cynkar 106, Applehans 95, Lewis 79

Please note that eBoxTops will not count towards these totals! Although, we appreciate all eBoxTop submittals, there is no way to track all of them to a specific classroom. eBoxTops will be included in the school totals, so please submit them. Only actual BoxTops that are turned into the teacher will count towards these classroom awards.

Important Reminders:

Please remember to put the student's name, grade and TEACHER in with all BoxTops in a sealable bag/envelope.
BoxTops with no teacher name will be included in the general BoxTop fund.
Please continue to trim the BoxTops prior to submitting them.

Please only include NON-EXPIRED BoxTops. BoxTops do expire!!!

PINGREE PARK ANNOUNCEMENTS

The annual Middle School Pingree Park trip is coming up on September 23-25! Cost is $105 per student.

Deadline for forms and payment is Friday, September 4th.

Please note that you can make your Pingree Park payment online
at Infinite Campus.

If your child uses and carries an inhaler, you must fill out and return the "Permission to Carry Inhalers Form," which can be found on the Health Clerk Webpage

Dining at Pingree Park

Wondering what's on the menu at Pingree Park? Concerned about dietary restrictions and/or food allergies? Visit  http://www.menus.colostate.edu and select "CSU Mountain Campus" to access the information, which includes detailed nutritional and ingredient data for each meal.

In general, the facility does well with most of the basic allergies, and they do provide an allergy-free table; however, there are limited gluten-free options. Please note that for dinner there is always a vegetarian option, a fresh green salad bar,as well as fresh veggie and fruit salads; for breakfast fresh fruit is available. Lunches are sack style (sandwich, fruit, veggies, chips, cookies) for two days.

If a student has severe or restrictive dietary needs or preferences, you may want to consider sending up a small cooler with your student's name on it and supplemental meals (breakfast and dinner only) that can be easily heated in the microwave by one of CSU's staff members. The facility is not able to prepare individual special meals for students.

If you have more specific questions for your child, please contact CSU Dining Services Manager, Larry Hennessy,at larry.hennessy@colostate.edu
