Take your camera or smart phone with you next time you go out to work. Yes, it is a very busy time of year for farmers. But it's also a perfect time to capture a fantastic photo, or video, of your farming or ranching operation. Show off your beautiful crops, fields, livestock, market booth, value-added products, equipment, CSA box... well you get the idea.

By entering you could win a free registration for the 2016 Southern SAWG conference. Click below to submit your entry, along with a brief description of how SSAWG has benefited your farming or ranching operation. Deadline is August 21, 2015.

Food Hub Publications
Two new publications came out recently that are must-reads for anyone involved in food hubs.

From the USDA, Running a Food Hub: Lessons Learned from the Field, includes business best practices and in-depth profiles of food hub operations. Visit link for summary and access to an electronic version.

The National Good Food Network Food Hub Collaboration released Counting Values: Food Hub Financial Benchmarking Study, which draws on financial and operational data from 48 of the more than 300 regional food hubs in the nation. The report marks a significant advancement in the business of moving local food into high-volume sales channels and provides comparative data, or benchmarks, that food hub managers can use to analyze and adjust operations. Visit link for resources.
Farm to School Regional Workshops
The Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute is hosting five farm to school workshops this fall that will help schools create healthier meals using local produce and introduce producers to this new market. Farmers and good food advocates from neighboring states are encouraged to join. More information can be found here.
