Our 2015 Conference Was a Big Success!

Thank you to all who participated in this event, led sessions, hosted field trips, facilitated sessions, provided scholarship funds, contributed food, donated milk, displayed posters and exhibited. Thank you, also, to those who coordinated these activities!
We Had So Much Fun, Met Friendly Folk and
Learned a Lot!

Nearly 1,000 enthusiastic producers, market managers, researchers, service providers and community food activists gathered in Mobile, Alabama for an extensive program of sessions, intensive courses, field trips, trade show, poster display, seed swap and more. Conference participants were REALLY engaged in the educational sessions, and were diving into deep discussions with new and old colleagues at every break.

At the closing dinner, so many people raved about the sweet potatoes and what a delight to have fresh organic cream on the berries! We had some very tasty beef from the only organic cattle operation in Alabama.

Southern SAWG's Executive Director Steve Muntz is a hoot, first leading the opening session in a chorus and then honoring outgoing director Jim Lukens with a goat emergency kit and a hand-crafted duct tape tie.

Saturday night's Tales from the South will air on January 29th. Check their website to find out how to listen to the show. Many thanks to Micah Anderson, Renee McCracken, and Shiloh Avery for sharing their stories.
