Special E-Blast

                             December 2012

Dear SSAWG Supporter

As someone who cares about local food and the farmers who work hard to produce it, I want to share what Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (Southern SAWG) has been doing over the past year to support farmers and grow our region's food system. In 2012, we:

  • Trained thousands of farmers in our Growing Farm Profits and Choosing Your Markets courses;
  • Educated over 1,200 participants at our annual conference;
  • Ensured that the voices of Southern farmers are heard in the halls of Congress by helping to bring farmers to DC and encouraging comments on the pending Farm Bill; and
  • Worked with partners to develop farm-to-institution programs and food hubs - so there is more healthy food going to schools, hospitals, and other institutions.

To continue this work next year, we need more support from friends like youWe know times are tough, but with cuts in government funding and a reduction in foundation grants, we need help from individual supporters like you - now more than ever!

If you care about sustainable agriculture in the South, could you support Southern SAWG with a generous donation today? Any amount will make
a big difference for us, and every donation counts!

Thank you for all that you do for sustainable agriculture and Southern SAWG!

Happy holidays to you and yours,

Jim Lukens

Executive Director
