Special E-Blast

                             December 2012

Dear SSAWG Supporter

Southern Sustainable Agriculture Working Group (Southern SAWG) has a vision of what agriculture can become in the South and an understanding of what it will take to get there.

Our vision is pretty simple.  We believe the South can feed itself, sustainably.  We envision a food system where everyone has access to wholesome food from a just, sustainable farming system that supports good environmental stewardship and quality of life for all.  But we have a lot of work to do to get there.

With your support
, Southern SAWG can continue this important work to:

  •    Expand the supply of healthy local foods by holding trainings for farmers;
  •    Ensure that the voices of Southern farmers are heard in the halls of
       Congress; and
  •    Develop farm-to-institution programs and food hubs with our partner
       organizations - so there is more healthy food going to schools, hospitals,
       and other institutions.

To continue this work next year, we need more support from friends like you!
We know times are tough, but with cuts in government funding and a reduction in foundation grants, we need help from individual supporters like you - now more than ever!

If you care about sustainable agriculture in the South, could you support Southern SAWG with a generous donation today? Any amount that you can afford will make a big difference for us, and every donation counts!

Thank you for all that you do for sustainable agriculture and Southern SAWG!

Happy holidays to you and yours,

Jim Lukens

Executive Director
