Hi Everyone,
This is Eli, Len's son. As you know, Len and Susan are on an adventure and are currently in Turkey. This morning they reported a great day tour and hike around Cappadocia exploring fantastic rock formations in the underground cave cities. We wish them a safe and exciting time.
Here in the office all is running smoothly. I just wanted to take a moment to THANK YOU all for being so welcoming to me over the past 4 months. In October, my family and I moved to Santa Fe from Los Angeles. I knew that coming home and being near my parents would warm my heart, but there was no way for me to predict the joy that working at NewMexicann has brought me. It is an amazing place: the botany, the chemistry, the state legal structure, the sticky business of federal law, the constant motion of the office, the "sexiness" of cannabis, and most importantly, the need and result that this now medically state legal plant is able to bring to you all, the patients. I am grateful to be here and hope to be of great service to you all over the coming years.
This week we are introducing our NEW HASH:
Temple Hash (Black Hash) - Raspberry Kush (Indica) -
$35 a gram
Nepalese in style, it's a little sticky, a little sweet and a great smoke!
The big project at hand in the office is the process of turning our hash oil into the primary medium of medicating non smokables (edibles and tinctures).
The process is close to completion. All our tinctures are now made with hash oil and are now ALL available at the office:
All tinctures are 150 mg THC/CBD for $18 per bottle:
We are combining the THC and CBD quantities into a single THC/CBD number for labeling. Our Tinctures and CannaMist will have 150 mg THC/CBD per bottle - although we err on the side of more to be sure you never have less. The ratio of THC to CBD will vary from strain to strain with Indicas generally having a bit more CBD and Sativas a bit less but a bit more THC. You can safely assume that our Sativa and Indica Tinctures and Mists that are rated for 150 mg THC/CBD contain 140 to 147 mg and contain 3 to 10 mgs CBD (for a combine 150 mg). High CBD tinctures will essentially be 1 to 1 CBD to THC, so 75 mg CBD to 75 mg THC.
We have in stock:
Canna Booze - Sativa
Canna Glycerin -Sative or Indica or High CBD
Canna Oil - Indica
Canna Mist - Sativia or Indica
We've had great response to all the new tinctures and encourage you to give them a try when it's convenient for you.
The Oil and Mist come in a 1 oz bottle, whereas the Glycerin and Booze are packaged into a 2 oz bottle. Although the amount of liquid in the bottle may be different, what matters is the quantified amount of hash oil - all tinctures have a quantification of 150 mg THC/CBD regardless of whether it is a 1 or 2 oz bottle. Using 2 oz bottles for the Booze and Glycerin has allowed us to add enough water to the solution to thin the burn of the Booze and the stickiness of the Glycerin; they now can both be used sublingually.
The tincture prior to the hash oil process had THC/CBD content all over the board. We sent a batch out for testing and found the Glycerin and Booze ran close to 30 mg on a strong batch. The new Glycerin and Booze are now 5 X that potency at 150 mg, so be cautious adjusting to them. They are also $7.00 cheaper.
The old oil ran 130 -140 mg when tested. The new batch is a 10 - 20 mg increase at 150 mg. The price did go up on the oil by $3.00, and for that I apologize, but now that we can quantify what we put into any non-smokable format we have had to develop a consistent price for 1 mg THC/CBD. After a bunch of math (that stressed me out by the way) we ended with 150 mg bottle at $18 across the board. Please shake the bottles before medicating to insure that each dose is consistent.
We have also completed a run of Canna Candy -Cherry Candy, using hash oil. The old candy was again inconsistent in content, but when tested came back around 60 mg THC/CBD, the new quantified (hash oil) Cherry Candy is 75 mg and the price stays the same $12. The other edibles are in process to change over. We'll keep you posted as the new formatted products come online.
Have a nice weekend and be well,
Eli
And now a quick note from Len in Turkey:
I have had a lot of very interesting feedback on the drug testing piece from last week.
Bryan Krum, a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner and Cannabis Activist, wrote the following. It is worth reading and considering - Bryan knows his stuff.
"...Also, you are too quick to minimize the therapeutic benefits of dronabinol. I have had great success in using dronabinol to help with sleep issues and help stop nightmares in many of my patients. I have also seen significant benefits from dronabinol in helping my profoundly autistic and MR patients in reducing aggressive behaviors reducing anxiety and improving social interactions. I have had a few patients who prefer the consistency of dronabinol to that of cannabis but it does lack many of the therapeutic effects of cannabis. Overall, I would rate dronabinol as much more effective than many other pharmaceuticals. For patients who don't qualify for the MCP, dronabinol can make a big difference in their lives."
On another note, another of our Nurse Practioner Patients pointed out that some drug testing includes a test for CBD as well as THC. This is done to eliminate the claim that the THC is from Marino since Marinol has no CBD. A work around for this would be to take a CBD supplement. Dixie Elixirs in Denver is making CBD tablets and selling them online to all states. They tell me the CBD is extracted in Canada, imported into the US under an FDA Tariff arrangement and then packaged in Colorado. They tell me the CBD capsules contain less that 0.3% THC and that they have court rulings to support that this is not a controlled substance under the Federal CSA. These caps can be purchased directly from Dixie on line at

Apparently, my last Newsletter upset at least one doctor who does a lot or MCP Recommendations. While the MCP Recommendations are not tracked by DEA, Marinol may be (like narcotics) and he is concerned about bringing down DEA heat on his practice. So, it could be that other docs will feel the same and obtaining Marinol prescriptions might be more difficult than I thought.
