Greetings!

Dry Sift Pressed Kief Hash - What, Why, How:
Several folks have asked recently for more information on our Pressed Kief Hash.  What it is, how we make it, how to use it.

As you all probably know, while there are some Cannabinoids and Turpines in the leaves and stems, most of the active compounds are contained in the Trichomes.  These are the glands that are on the surface of the leaves and flowers - the crystals that you can see on the buds.  If you can isolate and remove these Trichomes, you have a form of Hash.

Our Dry Sift Hash is just the trichomes with a small amount of residual plant material - that is it - no additives, no other mediums or solvents.  The hash is just dry sifted from close sugar leaf trim that is left when we clip and trim the flowers.  We spin this trim in a very fine mesh tumbler with some dry ice chips to keep the trichomes cold so they snap off easily.  The powder (pure kief & a smidgen of plant material) drops through the spinning mesh tumbler and collects in a tray beneath then pressed in into a puck using a hydraulic jack.

We test the
hash on occasion for potency.  Usually it turns out to be 85+% THC plus some other cannabinoids and a smidgen of plant material.  Actually that works out to 1600 mg THC per 2 gram puck for $50 - which is $0.03125/mg.  Our bud at $40 per 1/8, if it has 20% THC, works out to 700 mg THC per 1/8th or $0.5714/mg.  SO, even though our Dry Sift Kief Hash is considered expensive by some Patients, it is actually a better buy if you measure it as bang (THC) for the buck.

So besides the dollar value, why use Hash?  The biggest reason is that you can intake a great deal more of the active ingredients while in-taking a great deal less of the plant material. That means a lot less smoke in your lungs for the same amount of THC.  It also means that if you are using the Hash for edibles, there will be far less "alfalfa" plant taste.

The Hash can be used in several ways.  Personally, I like smoking it by itself in a very small bowled metal pipe.  I also vape it on its own in my small pocket vape.  Many patients use Hash as a "topper" - sprinkled on top of the Bud in either a bowl or a joint.  This gives an additional kick to the underlying Bud.

New Candy Edibles & Salves:
New MexiCann hooked up with Sandia Botanicals to bring our Patients new Candy Edibles (Lollipops & Gems) and Salves (Super Sacred Circle Salve & Super Arnica Relief Salve).

These new products are made with New MexiCann bud & trim.  The ethanol extraction and manufacturing was then done by Sandia Botanicals.

The Lollipops come in ".5 gram" and "1 gram" potencies and the gem come 4 to a ".5 gram" bag and 8 to a "1 gram" bag.  The Candies are also Indica or Sativa specific.

The Honorable R. Gil Kerlikowske

Director, Office of National Drug Control Policy

Executive Office of the President

Washington, DC 20503

Dear Director Kerlikowske:

Last month, voters in Colorado and Washington chose to legalize personal use of up to one ounce of marijuana and to enact licensing schemes for cultivation and distribution of the drug. As the states move to implement these new laws, marijuana remains a Schedule I controlled substance according to the Federal Government. Production, distribution, and possession of the drug are Federal criminal offenses punishable by imprisonment.

The Senate Judiciary Committee has a significant interest in the effect of these developments on Federal drug control policy. How does the Office of National Drug Control Policy intend to prioritize Federal resources, and what recommendations are you making to the Department of Justice and other agencies in light of the choice by citizens of Colorado and Washington to legalize personal use of small amounts of marijuana? What assurance can and will the administration give to state officials involved in the licensing of marijuana retailers that they will not face Federal criminal penalties for carrying out duties assigned to them under state law?

Legislative options exist to resolve the differences between Federal and state law in this area and end the uncertainty that residents of Colorado and Washington now face. One option would be to amend the Federal Controlled Substances Act to allow possession of up to one ounce of marijuana, at least in jurisdictions where it is legal under state law. In order to give these options full consideration, the Committee needs to understand how the administration intends to respond to the decision of the voters in Colorado and Washington. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter.

Sincerely,

PATRICK LEAHY

Chairman

U.S. Senate Committee on the Judiciary
