Extended Holiday Hours & Closings:
Of course New MexiCann will be closed on Christmas & New Years Day BUT we have decided to work the Sundays before to enter orders and then be open on Monday, Christmas Eve and Monday, New Years Eve for Patients to come in and pickup. We will be open those two Mondays from 10:30 until 3:30.
Be sure to order early for these two weeks as orders will be input on Sunday rather than Monday. To be sure of getting your order in the system, try to place your order early. We will be sending out our Newsletter on Friday and ordering can start as soon as you get the message or hear the announcement on our order line.
It is Starting to Move in Washington DC: Last week, Sen. Patrick Leahy, Chair of the Senate Committee on the Judiciary, wrote to Pres. Obama's Drug Czar - Gil Kerlikowske. Basically he said, "What is your position on Washington and Colorado Marijuana Legalization?" and also telling him that there were Legislative Measures that could be applied by Congress to address the issue if need be. The fact that this dialog is starting and being initiated by Legislators is a great sign that we may have movement in a positive direction. I have pasted Sen. Leahy's letter in its entirety at the bottom of this email for those of you who want to read it first hand.
President Obama Finally Makes Some Statement about State Cannabis Laws:
If you missed the President's interview with Barbara Walters, here is a link to the short section on the Legalization of Cannabis in Washington and Colorado. Bottom line - the Prez says there should be no prosecution of marijuana users in states where it is legal. Well that's not bad, but what does it say about these states' right to set up a regulatory system for licensing both growing and distribution that is similar to the regulation of alcohol production and distribution? Will they leave Adult Use alone but bust the state legal growers and distributors? Will Adult Users be safe from prosecution but only able to by illegally - UNsafe Access to UNsafe Weed? At this time, the Administration has not come to any definite conclusions - so you can inhale, but do not exhale just yet. , Have a great week.

Dear Director Kerlikowske:
Last month, voters in Colorado and Washington chose to legalize personal use of up to one ounce of marijuana and to enact licensing schemes for cultivation and distribution of the drug. As the states move to implement these new laws, marijuana remains a Schedule I controlled substance according to the Federal Government. Production, distribution, and possession of the drug are Federal criminal offenses punishable by imprisonment.
The Senate Judiciary Committee has a significant interest in the effect of these developments on Federal drug control policy. How does the Office of National Drug Control Policy intend to prioritize Federal resources, and what recommendations are you making to the Department of Justice and other agencies in light of the choice by citizens of Colorado and Washington to legalize personal use of small amounts of marijuana? What assurance can and will the administration give to state officials involved in the licensing of marijuana retailers that they will not face Federal criminal penalties for carrying out duties assigned to them under state law?
Legislative options exist to resolve the differences between Federal and state law in this area and end the uncertainty that residents of Colorado and Washington now face. One option would be to amend the Federal Controlled Substances Act to allow possession of up to one ounce of marijuana, at least in jurisdictions where it is legal under state law. In order to give these options full consideration, the Committee needs to understand how the administration intends to respond to the decision of the voters in Colorado and Washington. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on this matter.

The starting point is Albuquerque on Fridays and is only $10. The closer you live to Albuquerque the sooner you will get delivery. The further away you live your delivery day is more likely to be on Saturday. You will get a phone call 20-30 minutes before the driver arrives in your area and he will let you know where to meet him. If you need more time to get to the meeting point please tell us when you place your order so we can let the driver know to call you with more lead time.
