Dear KSRA Members and Other Interested Parties:
It is with mixed emotions I send this announcement to you today. Because of health issues I have had to resign my position as your President and Lobbyist effective immediately.
Because of the severity of the health issues I have suffered over the last year it is no longer feasible for me to continue working full time. I am retiring permanently. All of my doctors, cardiologist, pulmonologist, oncologist and primary care physician, have insisted that I minimize my stress and concentrate on controlling my health issues. To not do so would be foolish. Their combined recommendation that I retire is prudent and I am reluctantly complying.
I have spoken with the Executive Committee and as per the KSRA By-Laws Vice President Kathleen Wade will assume the position of President immediately. Please support her and give her your full cooperation. Kathleen will do a great job! Additionally Past President Bruce Williams will assume the position of Vice President. This ensures continuity and makes available very important historical information regarding the organization as he has many years of leadership service to KSRA. And of course according to KSRA By-Laws I now become the Immediate Past President and still retain a position on the Board on the Executive Committee. The job of the Immediate Past President is primarily one of being an advisor and watching over the board to ensure continuity and compliance and provide historical information. I am happy to serve in that capacity.
I am very pleased that Mr. Moriah Day has agreed to assume control of the PAC. Moriah has experience running two other PAC's in the past and he is very politically active and connected. He understands the statutory rules and will do a great job handling this position.
I want all of you to know that it has been my sincere pleasure to represent KSRA over this past decade. I am quite proud of all of my accomplishments in both the administrative, political and legislative arenas while at the helm of the KSRA. It is my sincere wish that the work I have done will be continued. When Kent Radcliff, Dr. Bob Robel, Bruce Williams and Wally Weber asked me to take a leadership role with KSRA all those years ago we had dismal membership numbers and little money. We had no website, no accounting records, no vehicle for communicating with members, NO political capital, most Kansans had never heard of KSRA and we didn't even have a telephone! As they say, we've come a long way baby! I'm very proud to have been instrumental in bringing positive change and growth to the organization!
I want to assure all of you that KSRA is in great hands and the great work we are doing will continue. Please support your new leadership team. It has been my pleasure to serve!
Yours In Freedom,
Patricia A. Stoneking
