Saturday, June 4, Is A Busy Broadway Day!
Training for Elders and Deacons
If you are a new Elder or Deacon, or are returning to serve after a couple of years out of the rotation, please plan to attend Elder and Deacon Training on Saturday, June 4, beginning at 9:00 a.m. Information on serving communion, home communion and Lenoir services will be available.
Field Day Fun and Pie the Preacher!
Just in case you missed it, the picture at right is Staton Zaner, our Summer Ministry Intern, who, from all appearances, can fly with both feet in a potato sack! This talent will be invaluable at our June 4 Field Day Sack Races!
Volunteers are needed for Field Day, which will begin at 10:00 a.m. and wrap up at 2:00 p.m. - and it's so easy to sign up! Just visit
Sign Up Genius and choose a 30-minute shift. That give you plenty of time to enjoy the activities and game with your kids, including an 18-foot inflatable slide! Hot dogs and outdoor-friendly foods will be served around lunchtime - and it's all free!
Win a Chance to Pie the Preacher!
How much fun does something called "Pie the Preacher" sound? All of Broadway's ministers (including Staton the Flying Intern) are extremely good sports and have agreed to help raise funds for camp scholarships by getting "pied" for a good cause! There will be donation cans with the minister's photo/name, and all you need to do is place a donation in the can of the minister you'd like to see enjoying pie up close and personal.
Rocheport Bluegrass
What could be better than to wrap up a busy day with bluegrass gospel and fellowship at our Bluegrass Worship at Rocheport? The service begins at 5:00 p.m., with fellowship following.
Come Out for Property Work Day June 11
It is time to spruce up Broadway's grounds for summer on Saturday, June 11! From 9:00 a.m.-Noon, volunteers will be needed to help with mulching, weeding and trimming. The Property Ministry team has a "to do" list, so you can just choose your job and get 'er done! In case of rain, Work Day will move to the same time on Saturday, June 18.
One Worship Service, One Annual Meeting and
One Great Chicken Dinner on June 12
On Sunday, June 12, be sure to go north when you enter the building for worship! We will have one blended worship service, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the Christian Life Center. This blended worship will feature music from all of our talented musicians - Daybreak's John Rawlings, Chancel Bells and Choir, the Ensemble and HighRise. All of Broadway, in one spot, worshiping, singing and praying together - it will be an amazing service!
Following worship, our Annual Meeting and Chicken Dinner will begin. Lunch will be served, with Connections Ministry providing Lee's Chicken and a big pot of green beans, and asking each member to bring a side, salad or dessert to share with others (A-G, dessert; H-M, side; N-Z, salad). The cost is $5 per person, or a $20 family maximum.
The Annual Meeting will begin as soon as everyone has had a chance to go through the buffet line (at least once!). The Meeting agenda will include saying 'thanks' to our out-going officers, Board members, Elders and Deacons and welcoming our new church leaders. The congregation will also be asked to approve a By-Laws revision and the 2016-2017 operating budget.
Check The Giving Tree for Children's Ministries Needs
If you can't be here for our VBS, or a work commitment keeps you from helping out in Pathways, or you just like to help out Broadway's kids - check the Giving Tree in Fellowship Hall for ways to help! The Tree is full of fruit - things that are needed for Field Day, VBS and regular Sunday morning classes - and you can pluck one or more of these needed items from the Tree. When you purchased the selected item, simply drop it in one of the baskets below the Tree!
Shakespeare's Cups for Summer Camp!
The iconic (at least in Columbia!) plastic Shakespeare's cups will be used for NEOLA Summer Camps this summer, and more are needed! If you have a stack just sitting in your kitchen cabinet, please donate them for camp use. There will be a blue tote in the Fellowship Hall for the next few Sundays - just drop them off.
And don't forget, the Early Bird discount for summer camp has been extended!
