When we recently focused on the church and disabilities in worship we also introduced signing for those with hearing deficits. The art of American Sign Language is beautiful to behold for the hearing person. For the non-hearing person it provides a pathway to include more people in the experience of worship.

Now that we have completed our maiden voyage we are preparing to launch worship signing on a regular basis. This will require a rotation of signers and coordination with our worship schedule. We are blessed to have people in our own faith community who have a passion for this.

This is so Broadway. It is in our nature to reach out and include those who might otherwise have been excluded from life together. When we do we are stronger for it. Churches that reach out in selfless ways continue to renew themselves. It is in the doing of our convictions that we remember just exactly what they are.
