BCC front Greetings!

Doesn't it seem as though we were just talking about all of our Advent and Christmas ministries?  It does to me!  Now here we are at the beginning of summer, already well into the Community Garden season, firming up our August El Salvador mission plans and looking forward to the Festival of Sharing in October!

For now, we'll concentrate our efforts and energy on the next few weeks of outreach ministry.  Hope that you can join us for our May 20 meeting to discuss what's coming up fast on the Broadway Service calendar!

Blessings,

Debby

Village The week of August 10-17 will see our third Broadway mission team travel to El Salvador for a week of building relationships, community and Eco-Stoves!

The deadline for registration was May 15, however if you have been thinking and praying about joining the team in August - there is still time!  A few spots remain on the team roster, but you must commit soon.  Once the airline tickets are purchased, the window of opportunity closes!

Our Garden Grows a Congregation

Burmese Church

Our Community Garden is among the most successful outreach ministries at Broadway.  It continues to grow in size and scope under the green thumb of coordinator Don Day.

Recently, the Garden grew some surprising and welcome fruit.  Many of the members of the Burmese community have garden plots at Broadway, and many of those same folks are a part of a small, but thriving, Burmese Christian congregation.  The leaders of this community approached Broadway about "nesting" thier small church on Sunday morning.

Thanks to flexible scheduling, a wide-open basement after 11:00 a.m. and an enthusiastic response from Broadway ministers, the Service Ministry team and the Board, the Burmese congregation began meeting here on May 5.  Their church services begin at 11:30 a.m., and the lower level classrooms are a prefect fit for their worship space and break-out rooms.

We hope to build on this "new fruit" from the Community Garden with shared ministries and fellowship.  Please welcome the members if you see them arriving on Sunday!

Habitat Documentary Ready to Watch!
Habitat

The 25th Habitat Sale is history, and luckily, it is recorded history!

Bill Helvey filmed and talked to the movers and shakers of the Habitat Sale team, filming from the initial Sausage and Waffles planning meeting to the post-Habitat Celebration Lunch.  The 15-minute documentary will serve as a permanent record of the history and spirit of the Sale.

We will view the documentary at our May 20 MOM meeting.  The documentary will also be shown on July 14 during the Annual Meeting.  And - look for it on Broadway's YouTube channel!
Community Garden Work Day June 1

El Salvador laundry facility Bring your shovels and rakes and other implements of weed destruction and come to our Community Garden Work Day on Saturday, June 1 from 9:00 a.m.-Noon.

The Work Day is being coordinated by our partners at Refugee and Immigration Service.  Many immigrants who have settled near Broadway have garden plots.  The plots allow them to supplement their food budgets and also to grow vegetables that are not readily available in mid-Missouri.

Coffee and doughnuts will be provided during the morning.  Donations of garden tools are appreciated.  If you are able to bring a mower or a weedeater to the Work Day, please contact Don at dday@centurytel.net.

Feed the Community Benefit Concert

High Steppers

On Friday, June 28, Broadway will host a benefit concert for Fifth Street's Feed the Community ministry.  The concert will feature music from the Fifth Street choirs, liturgical dance from their youth and children, solo performances and a grand finale from the Missouri High Steppers!

There will be a love offering during the concert and all proceeds will benefit the Feed the Community ministry.

Following the concert, there will be a reception in Broadway's Fellowship Hall for the participants and the those in attendance.  Contact Debby if you can donate refreshments or help with set-up and/or clean-up.

Please plan to be there and support this important hands-on ministry!
