Greetings!,

At the shop with Malam II and one of the coordinating borders
This past month has simply flown by, filled with designing new fabrics and new quilts. I'm most excited about the quilt I am working on for Quilters' Quest, our annual shop hop.  I think you are going to love it. Check out a sneak peek, new Quest fabric, and more below.

So much fabric has come into the Studio this past month. Our full shipment of my new batiks, Malam II, has finally arrived along with border prints which perfectly compliment the collection.

Many of you know that I have long been a supporter of the Virginia Quilt Museum. Next year, the museum will be celebrating their 20th anniversary and I am delighted that they will be starting the year by featuring not only quilts I have made but favorite antique ones from my collection. Mark your calendars for February 3rd through March 21st, 2015. There will also be an artist's reception on February 21st. We will have more details for you as we get closer.

Fabrics, projects, Quilters' Quest...we've got lots for you in this month's newsletter including the all-important next block for Starstruck, our Block of the Month.

Malam II is here!

Back in July, I gave you a sneak peak at my new batik fabrics from Malam II. The 49 fabrics have been divided into four colorways-Fire, Forest, Fountain, and Frost.  The broad value range from soft lights to lush darks adds drama to the accompanying projects.
Echoes - Fire, Echoes - Forest
Echoes and Migrations, which we previewed in the July newsletter, are the first of the projects using this collection. To add a beautiful finishing touch, we now have six stunning border prints from a future line, Chelsea, which coordinate beautifully with the different batik colorways.
Migrations - Fountain
I have a lot more planned for these batiks. Watch for next month's newsletter to see two more projects.

Join Us for Quilters' Quest
Even though we have been doing this for years, we still get excited about our annual Quilters' Quest. The batik fabric I designed exclusively for the ten Quest shops isn't available until November but I can tell you it's gorgeous!  Featuring images from the Washington, D.C. area, the four different colors truly embrace the theme, "Jewels Over Washington."  Check out the Quest website for details and, while you're there, you can sign up for their newsletter where you'll find free patterns each month for their Mystery quilt.

Each participating shop designs a quilt using the "jewel" fabrics you can collect from the shops. I'm so pleased with how ours is turning out that I thought I would give you a peak at it now.  What do you think?

And don't forget...if you plan to do the Quest, you can leave the driving to us. We have two bus trips covering all ten shops. You'll find details here on our website.

Yazzi Bags
Yazzi bags have been popular not only with our customers but with the staff, too! We've all been using our bags, mainly for carrying handwork. However, since my Quest quilt started to grow during the piecing, I found I wanted a larger bag to carry the growing top without giving up all of those wonderful organizing pockets and sleeves. The new, larger bag fits the bill. See how the bag holds everything I need to cart around? See both sizes of Yazzi bags.

Starstruck - Star Block 7

Month 8, Star Block 7
- You're now more than halfway through! This month, the fussy-cut border print once again adds impact and interest. You're now a "wiz" at Y-seams and these are quite gentle and easy to accomplish with careful marking and sewing. Help is always available for cutting, piecing, blocking and printing the templates on our website.

If you're just joining the program, don't worry about catching up. In addition to this month's blocks, the download link below will give you access to all the materials we've shared so far.

Starstruck is available in two different colorways with dark or light backgrounds. Template essentials kits are also available.

(They are all Adobe PDF files so you must have the free Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view them.)

Remember the link for downloading the pattern is available only in the subscriber e-mail.

Would you like to see all six versions? Starstruck Quilt Kits are now available.

We've also created beautiful fat quarter bundles of the fabric used in Starstruck. If you love the colors in this quilt and would like to use them in a different project, this is the choice for you.
