Greetings!,

Bedfordshire, my new collection due early August

As I start gathering my thoughts for this month's newsletter, I have so many new ideas running through my mind. I am just back from Spring Market where I not only saw what's new in the quilting world but got to introduce my new collection, Bedfordshire.
International Quilt Market Pittsburgh 2014

While I am known best as a designer, I may be most proud when the word used to describe me is teacher. I have just finished a spring full of classes and was thrilled to have many of you travel to Virginia

to learn the techniques that I love to teach. I will be teaching again this summer so make sure you go to our "Classes" page to see the summer schedule.

"Why Quilts Matter" is a wonderful documentary produced by The Kentucky Quilt Project.  I recently participated in their "Question & Answer Series" on their blog. You can read my interview and learn about this wonderful project here.

Students from my Quiltmaking by Hand class
People may talk about the "lazy" days of summer but it is anything but lazy around here. Read on to learn about new products, a unique, country-wide shop hop we are joining, opportunities to travel around the world, a great tip that I bet you will find yourself using over and over, and the all-important next block for our block of the month, Starstruck. Now that doesn't sound lazy at all, does it?

All New - Forty-five Degree Ruler and Templates

The word from you, our customers, is that you love using my 60-degree diamond tools. Thanks so much for the wonderful feedback. In response to many requests, I have now designed a ruler along with 2 and 2 - inch templates for making 45-degree diamonds. These tools make quick work of cutting strips and diamonds for quilts such as Lone Stars and the ruler makes mitering borders a snap.

Row by Row - A NEW Type of Shop Hop
In addition to our November Quilters' Quest, this year, we will be participating in the "Row by Row Experience," with quilt shops across the country. If you visit any of the participating shops between July 1 & September 2, you'll receive a free pattern for a row in a quilt. You can combine your rows to create a wonderful memory quilt of the fun you had traveling from shop to shop. Don't worry if you don't live near the Studio. Quilt shops in more than 20 states are participating. To find out about the shops, prizes and other info, visit the "Row by Row Experience" website.

Come Join Me on Trips Around the World
India, Africa, Tuscany, & Bali
Quilting has given me the opportunity to travel around the world, meet many wonderful people and see many amazing places. In recent years, I have joined forces with some great travel companies who gear their trips towards quilters and their interests. If you would like to join me, I have put together all of my upcoming tours on one page on my website. The locations for three of these trips were inspired by the book, Eat, Pray, Love by Elizabeth Gilbert. Check out my Trips and Tours page to find out where I am going.

Draft Your Own Patterns
Often when we show pictures of quilts on our Facebook page we are asked the question, "Is there a pattern for that?" The words "geometry" and "drafting" scare a lot of people, forcing them to rely on patterns created by others. But it is really easy if you know what grid a block is drafted from and how to get the grid on a piece of paper. Almost 40 years ago I learned a trick for getting a grid of any number of divisions on a square. It makes drafting a pattern a breeze.  Read on my Tips and Lessons about this great technique. It's easy and a real eye opener!

Pinterest

Pinterest is a wonderful visual source of inspiration for quilters allowing you to collect ideas for future projects. I hope you follow the Studio's boards and "pin" your favorites so you can share them with other quilters. Check us out under "Jinny Beyer Studio" on Pinterest.

Starstruck- Star Block 4
Month 5, Star Block 4 - This month has a return of the inset seams you've already mastered with earlier blocks. You will be using a tumbler-shaped template to fussy cut the border print fabric creating a dramatic center design.  Help is always available for cutting, piecing, blocking and printing the templates on our website.

Remember the link for downloading the patterns is available only in the subscriber email.

Would you like to see all six color versions? Starstruck Quilt Kits are now available.

We've also created beautiful fat quarter bundles of the fabric used in Starstruck. If you love the colors in this quilt and would like to use them in a different project, this is the choice for you.

Happy Quilting!
