Greetings!,
We had a wild and fun ten days in November during our annual Northern Virginia and Maryland shop hop, which we call Quilters' Quest.
More than 1000 visitors came through our doors during the event, arriving in cars, vans and seven buses! It truly was a whirlwind. Each shop gave away free fabric strips with a minimum purchase and a free quilt pattern for the quilt they designed with the strips. We had a scavenger hunt, lots of chocolate, and more than 200 prize winners, including five grand prize winners. You can read all about the event and see the 11 special Quest quilts on the Quilters' Quest website.
 | | The Quest fabric features 20 scenes from the region. Limited yardage is still available at $11.95 per yard. |
 | | The 2012 Quest quilt features motifs from the commemorative fabric. The quilt finishes 40" square and the kit is $45 while supplies last. |
I designed the special edition Quilters' Quest fabric this year, and it features areas of interest around the D.C. region. I still have limited amounts of the fabric available, plus I designed.
I was thrilled with how many people participated in Quilters' Quest from out of the area -- Alaska, California, Arkansas, many other states and several Canadian provinces.
This is a truly amazing event, so if you plan to visit the Washington D.C. area next fall you may want to plan your trip around our shop hop. The 2013 dates are November 8 - 17.
Many of the shops sponsor two-day buses that visit all the shops. For more information about the Quest in general, visit the Quest website or like our Facebook page. Details on the 2013 event will be posted when available. In the meantime, I'd like to wish each one of you a very special holiday season. And don't miss the pattern for the free holiday ornament or the last block for Shenandoah Baskets in this newsletter.
Talk to you again in January!

Brand New Two-Color Quilts
| I must admit that I'm very partial to using a really wide range of fabrics in my quilts. However, there is no question that quilts made with just two colors can knock your socks off, too.
Here are three fantastic quilts that are just two colors: red and white, or blue and white. All of them use fabrics from my Monochrome collection, which has three colorways: red, blue, and black.
Kits for all the quilts are available at jinnybeyer.com.
Optical Illusions is a quilt designed by Erin Underwood but shown here in my blue Monochrome fabrics. This eye-catching quilt gives the illusion of curves with just straight seams! Using the Creative Grids 15° Ruler, it's easy to cut wedges from strip-pieced fabric. The background is cleverly pieced, too, so there are no tricky inset seams or appliqué.
The kit is $100 and is available in a multi-colored version, too. View Optical Illusions quilt kits.
Fractured Star is a quilt design I created for this month's issue of Fons & Porter's Love of Quilting magazine. (The complete pattern is published in the magazine.) With careful attention to the value of the printed fabrics, I was able to get a very soft, blended look for the quilt.
The quilt is featured in the magazine in red and white, but a black and white version is available exclusively from us.
Kits start at $141. View Fractured Star quilt kit.
Cherry Churn Dash is featured in the January/February 2013 issue of McCall's Quilting magazine. Diane Nagle designed this traditional quilt featuring classic Churn Dash and Wild Goose Chase blocks. The Monochrome border print fabric frames the central medallion and the overall quilt.
We've also created a lovely blue colorway that is a Studio exclusive.
Kits start at $95. View Cherry Churn Dash quilt kit.

Shenandoah Baskets - Month 11
|
Basket of Lilies is the very last block in our 2012 BOM program. After this month, only the finishing instructions remain.
The construction of the flowers in this block is quite similar to some of the previous blocks, but by using background fabric in place of some of the flower "petals", I've given you a block with a very different look.
If you're just joining the program, there's no need to worry about catching up. In addition to this month's block, the download link below will give you access to all the materials we've shared so far.
| |
Shenandoah Baskets is available with dark or light backgrounds. The optional floral appliqué is shown on the light version.
|
(They are all Adobe PDF files so you must have the free Adobe Reader installed on your computer to view them.)
Remember that the only way to access the free download page is through this email. So, if you don't download the patterns immediately, be sure to save this email. The link below will be active until the next newsletter goes out.
