Effective June 2, 2014
New Trash, Recycling
& Yard Waste Schedules
Effective June 2, 2014, the Township is changing the Trash, Recycling & Yard Waste Schedule for all residents.
*************************
If your trash was collected on Monday & Thursday, it will now be collected on Tuesday & Thursday. Your recycling will continue to be collected on Thursday (along with trash).
Click here to see the new printable Tuesday-Thursday schedule.
*************************
If your trash was collected on Tuesday & Friday, it will now be collected on Wednesday & Friday. Your recycling will continue to be collected on Friday (along with trash).
Click here to see the new printable Wednesday-Friday schedule.
*************************
Yard Waste Will Be Collected on Monday for all homes.
*************************
The changes are being made for many reasons:
- Residents will once again be permitted to place yard waste in brown biodegradable bags
- Because most residents do yard work on weekends, Monday yard waste collection is intended to encourage residents to separate their yard waste from their trash
- Increasing the amount of yard waste collected will save money and help reduce taxes
If you have questions, please call the Township at 610-446-1000, Ext. 2263.

Potholes
The Township and I are well aware of the epidemic of potholes on our roads (and on roads throughout the region). In fact, I have received more than 100 emails complaining about these conditions in the past few weeks.
In virtually every case, however, the road with potholes is a state road, not a Township road -- and the Township is not permitted to make any repairs on those highways. When the Township receives a complaint about a condition on a state road, it notifies Penndot, but Penndot does not necessarily notify the Township when it will be making repairs.
Penndot is responsible for maintaining and repairing all 35 miles of state highways in the Township, including Ardmore Avenue, College Avenue, Eagle Road, Darby Road, Manoa Road, West Chester Pike, Lawrence Road, Ellis Road, Marple Road, Darby Creek Road, Wynnewood Road and many others.
If you see a pothole on a Township road, contact (610) 446-1000 or send me an email.
If you see a pothole on a state road, click here to notify Penndot of your "concern." Here is Penndot's explanation of what it defines as a "concern:"
"A Concern is something that requires Penndot attention for resolution such as potholes, drainage issues, or deer carcass removal. A concern should not be submitted for immediate needs or issues that could create safety concerns, like missing signs or roadway hazards. If the concern requires immediate attention, please call 1-800-FIX-ROAD to be connected directly to the county maintenance office in your area."
Click here to visit the Penndot website for our region.
Because the pothole problem is predominantly on state roads, you may also contact our State Representatives or State Senator:
