Storm Update:
Township & Peco Information
Peco Status: As of early evening, approximately 6,000 homes in Haverford Township remain without power. Peco estimates that 500,000 homes in the region do not have electricity. According to Peco, "it is too early to determine when service will be restored to all customers," although the company expects to have restoration times on Thursday morning. It could take several days to restore power to all residents in light of the extent of the storm's damage.
Township Status: There are numerous trees and limbs down in the Township. At least 17 of the downed trees involve electrical lines, and the Township cannot address those areas until Peco clears the area and makes the roads safe. The remaining trees are being handled by the Public Works staff, but they will not perform tree-related activity after dark for safety reasons.
Trash Collection Will Occur on Thursday as Scheduled: The Township notes, however, that residents living on streets blocked by downed trees or wires should hold their trash and recycling until next week.
Haverford YMCA Offers Assistance: The Haverford Area YMCA would is offering mobile device charging stations for Haverford Township residents during the State of Emergency. The YMCA can also provide showers upon request. The YMCA requests, however, that residents find alternative modes of transportation to the Y to avoid congestion in its parking lot. This offer is extended only during the Y's normal hours of operation: Monday to Friday 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday 5 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. For more information, call the YMCA at (610) 649-0700.
State of Emergency: As reported earlier, the Township has declared a State of Emergency. Doing so allows the Township to take appropriate actions, purchase supplies, etc. during the current conditions.
- If you do not have power, please contact Peco at (800) 841-4141 to report the outage.
- For trees down on roadways, please contact Public Works at (610) 446-1000.
- For other emergencies, contact the Police at 9-1-1.
Please be patient; the Township is dealing with resident issues as quickly as possible under the circumstances.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation.

A Personal Note: I am traveling out of town the rest of the week and have also been a bit under the weather. As a result, I ask that you be patient. I am trying to respond to all email and phone calls, but anticipate delays until I return home on Sunday. Also, if you have an emergency, please call either the Police at 9-1-1 or the Township at (610) 446-1000.
