Dealing With Snow & Icy Roads

With yet another winter storm upon us, it is important for residents to understand how the Township deals with these conditions.

The Township has published a "Winter  Operations Guide" explaining how the Township prepares for storms, operates during stormy conditions, and how it handles the aftermath of these storms. Click here to view the Guide.

In addition, it is important for residents to know that the Township Code prohibits shoveling or plowing snow into Township streets. The Township strictly enforces this ordinance.

In addition, when a storm becomes particularly severe, the Township will declare a snow emergency. At those times, parking is prohibited along various designated major highways.

Click here to view my web page, which explains the applicable Code provisions and lists the streets on which parking is prohibited during major snow emergencies.

Trash & Recycling Schedules Available

The 2014 Trash & Recycling calendars have been mailed to all residents. Residents of the 4th Ward will continue to have trash collected on Mondays, trash and recycling collected on Thursdays, and yard waste and Christmas tree pickups on specified Wednesdays. My website has links to the Monday-Thursday and the Tuesday-Friday Trash & Recycling calendars.
Reorganization Meeting on January 6th
& A Personal Note

The Board of Commissioners will hold its annual reorganization meeting on Monday, January 6th at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioners Meeting Room located behind the Township Building. At that meeting, Township Solicitor Gary Zlotnick, and Commissioners Connell, Holmes, Oliva and I will be sworn in. The public is welcome to attend.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the Township's residents for their support and suggestions. These newsletters, and my website, are the result of input from residents, Township employees and others during the last five years.  Because of your actions, this Newsletter has grown dramatically, and my website has had more than 104,000 visitors in less than five years. Again, my thanks to all of you for your support, and I hope to do even more to encourage openness and communications during my next four years in office.
