Haverford Township Library Update
Recently, I have been contacted by residents with questions about possible renovations or replacement of the Township Library, as well as concerns about a proposed Municipal Building to replace the current facilities. Unfortunately, many of the questions are based upon the fact that some people are providing inaccurate information to the public about the proposed project.
At the October 15th meeting, I made a statement, with which Commissioners Oliva, Hall, Holmes, Wechsler and others concurred, explaining the status of the project, including:
- We do not know the cost of the project and cannot therefore make recommendations whether to renovate the library or replace it.
- Every plan assures that all ball fields will remain after construction, and there is the possibility that we may be able to add additional fields.
- The Committee believes that the entire Board should decide how to proceed and that the public is entitled to provide its input so that we can make our decisions based upon the views of all stakeholders.
If you would like to view my statement, click here to watch this short video clip providing accurate information about the state of the proposed project. Of course, if you have additional questions, please contact me by email at [email protected] or give me a call at (610) 446-1117.

Leaf Collection
Leaf collection begins in the 4th Ward next week -- the week of November 4th. Leaves must be ready for pickup on the first designated day of the week listed. Residents are reminded to place leaves at the curbside and not in the street.
The second leaf collection in the 4th Ward will be on the week of December 2nd.
For more information about leaf collection in the 4th Ward or throughout the Township, click here.

Paddock Bathroom Update
The long-awaited bathroom at Paddock Park will be a reality very soon. The Township Engineer has advised me that the building (which is pre-fabricated) is being built, and that site development will begin shortly (probably as soon as football season ends). Once the site work is completed, they basically just use a crane and plop the building into place. The Township and I appreciate your patience, but it is nice to know that the end is near. |
Tree Trimming
One of the most popular services the Township provides is the trimming of trees. The program applies to trees within 25 feet of the center of Township roads (not State roads). The Township Tree Crew will trim trees in need of trimming, and remove those that require such action. The Tree Crew works year-round, except during leaf collection season. In other words, tree trimming will resume after the 2013 leaf collection program ends.
If you have a tree that you believe requires trimming or removal, you can contact me (by email at [email protected] or (610) 446-1117) or call the Township at (610) 446-1000. Work is done on a first-come, first-served basis.
