The current power outage (on the evening of Thursday, September 5th, 2013) was caused by a major transformer failure on West Chester Pike. Peco is on the scene and service has or will be restored shortly.

Earlier today and yesterday, Peco was working throughout the 4th Ward to address the many power outages we have faced in the last few years. As a result of my communications with Peco, the company accelerated its maintenance program and performed much of the maintenance scheduled for 2014 this week. In order to do the vegetation control, trim trees, and make other equipment repairs, Peco turned off the power this afternoon. Hopefully, these efforts will result in more stable and reliable electric service.
