Hurricane Sandy
Haverford Township Update |
Current Status
According to PECO, there are 2,382 residents without power. This includes the Haverford Township Public Works Facility and the Skatium. The Skatium will remain closed until power is restored.
The Township is making arrangements to have fuel delivered to our maintenance facility because, without power, fuel pumps do not operate.
Overall, the Township is quickly being restored to normal operations. The Sanitation Department is collecting trash today, and we will collect Recycling only on Thursday and Friday. Trash and Recycling collections will return to a normal schedule on Monday, November 5th. Leaf collection is also resuming today throughout the Township, with the goal of resuming normal leaf collection next week. Please remember that leaf collection will continue in each ward until December.
The Township continues to work with PECO but as you can see even the Township has been impacted by the hurricane, and it will take time and patience before power is restored to everyone. (For example, I have no telephone, Internet or television service at home.) |
Today is Halloween
Please remember that today is Halloween and that the roads and sidewalks remain very slippery. In addition, many homes remain without power, and some residents have relocated until services are fully restored. Please be very observant of children so that we can celebrate the holiday without any accidents. |
Contacting The Township
The Township Public Works Department is open, and all calls to the Township (610-446-1000) will be answered by either the Township operator (during business hourse) or by the Police. Please do not contact the Township about routine matters until services have returned to normal. |
